Great quote from Balmey in today's Age:

"You prepare for what's in front of you, and that's a game," Balme said. "It's not two weeks, it's one week and it's not even one game, it's one quarter, and it's not even one quarter, it's one contest."

So glad we have this bloke at the club.
He acts as the circuit breaker between Bomber and the media.

The pies publicly humiliated him last year. I'm sure he would love a win against them as much as anybody.

Can anyone tell me what Brians Cooks recomendations were in his review at the end of 2006, and why they shafted Garry Davidson. Heard a rumour the players had a bit to say about Davidson

Do you have a source to support that accusation? It was a mutual decision between the club and Balme, but if you have a link to dispute that, then I'd love to read it. Eight years was a long time, and both Balme and Collingwood knew it.

Geoff Walsh moved to Collingwood and has done very well, and so to has Balme at Geelong, so both clubs are happy. Congratulations to Neil Balme if Geelong wins tomorrow, and commiserations to him if they don't.

"While Balme said he leaves Collingwood on good terms after what he described as a "fantastic eight years", he said his days in the black and white had been drawing to a close for some time. He also emphasised his excitement at moving to a new club after being headhunted by the Cats."

KS - I'm referring to Balme being moved from the coaches box to a seat with the cheersquad.

Was a poor way to treat the man and was widely reported at the time.

Where Balmey goes success tends to follow.

Richmond premership player
Norwood premiership coach
Got Melbourne to a prelim final
Did well at Collingwood
Doing well at Geelong

I have been a Norwood fan for 30 years and I was Matty Stoked to hear that he had come to Catland. Under Balme's guidance Norwood toppled a mighty Port team that had won three flags on the trot on the way to delivering a premiership to the Parade.

Let's hope with his input, we can lead another Port combination to destruction today.

regards,

REB
