So are you saying everyone in the box is stubborn and dumb? Then we are in real trouble

I just think it's remarkable that everyone presumes to know what a) would work better and b) what actually happens. None of us know what goes on in that box. None of us know who Craig does and doesn't listen to.

yup, there are 2 options
1. craigy has filled the box with yes men
2. he ignores (in true ayres fashion) the suggestions of others who want to respond.

so yeah you're right, if it's not no.2 it has to be no.1 - which would be worse. it's not true, but it's even worse to think they all whistled a happy tune through the second half.

Stevens came over and so did Rutten but the delivery from the midfield into the Hawthorn forwards was superb. Johncock and McLeod were not able to come across and help like they normally do as well as they were being very well held (literally!) by the Hawthorn forwards. Bateman's tactics were disgusting but even more disgusting was that the umps were looking at it and doing nothing about it... The less said about Vanderberg and his off the ball incidents the better

Stevens was on Franklin at one stage in the last quarter and was well beaten.

Thats football Nikki, we arent playing netball, maybe the AFC need to get some balls and employ similar tactic's???

1. he's nothing like level 5 ;)
2. no you haven't
3. he empowers the players, but everyone else in the coaches box is a mute?
Jonas is a matchday tactician for example, but no moves are made? that's because he's still holding the reins, whilst others watch on.

he obviously does not delegate and empower to those between him and the players. Level 5 leaders, amongst other things, delegate at EVERY level of the organisation, not just those levels that suit. craigy patently picks and chooses.
Careful guys, I think we have one of the coaching staff posting on here.
Well said mate. :thumbsu:
Anyone writing off their coach is mad and should perhaps have a face to face talk with the coach. He does know what he is doing.

Surely even you would realise that it is reflected on the field?

All I know is what I see on the ground. Some weeks he does make moves, most he doesn't. But I can't for one minute assume I know WHO makes those decisions in the box, and find it hard to believe others can. How do you know it's not the assistant coaches guiding Craig? In all my experience with Craig he has made it abundantly clear that he calls on everyone around him (players, coaches etc) - drawing from the collective knowledge and not relying on just himself.

And then says '' the final decision rests with me''

Unfortunately I think from the Trigg 5AA interview his arse has already been covered by Triggy coming out and saying 2008 will be a 'development year'

whats wrong with that ??

I thought people on this board wanted to develop the younger players.

Surely by saying 08 is a development year - which is clearly is going to be give NC the chance to prove his wares as a developer of talent ?

I'm hoping we do go down this path.

It had astonishingly quick and refreshing results for Port Adelaide.

I certainly do.

Wouldn't we have been better off to have done that this year rather than win our last 3 games and jump up 3 spots in the draft??

Yes

would have saved a few supporters a lot of $$$ :D

But you go to game anywhere and everywhere at your own peril, if you only support a club knowing they are 100% certain for a victory….well that type of supporter should just piss off.

Yeah, it surprises me how much the '12th and Loving It' catchphrase was mocked under the circumstances (Tredrea and Burgoyne falling over, blooding kids via necessity, etc).

Has reaped massive dividends for minimal pain.

And so it should be mocked. I understand the draft system makes it palatable to not try, but to me its a sign you may as well shut the doors.

I am glad we tried and finished 8th then not tried and finished 11th

Sure if 12th is the best you can be then thats a different story

There's a massive difference between what Hawthorn did - leaving Nick Holland in the VFL when he was fit and they were crying out for a key forward - and sending Tredrea who was legitimately broken down for surgery and using that as a signpost to play kids ahead of deadend blokes like Peter Walsh and Aaron Shattock.

It was a sound decision I thought - a silver lining on a black cloud, rather than any real deliberate push for the draft order (see Carlton rolling over like a cheap $LuT for anyone and everyone in order to get Kr00z0r).

While I would fully embrace "playing the kids" if it's a means to an end in terms of getting us out of this "list holding pattern" we've been in for a decade........the major variable will be the quality of kids we have to throw at the problem.

Do we have a Pearce, Westhoff, Chaplin, (small fwd kiddies name who escapes me) ??

do Pfeiffer, Campbell, Sellar and Tippett (for example) have the instantaneous goods as these guys did??

One things for sure - we need to find out because I can handle finishing 8th if we're "playing the kids".....
