Now we get to hear it from the Melbourne supporters for a few months... at least till the season starts again.

Which Victorian team will be our next rival?....Hawthorn, Carlton, Melbourne and next up? What is the pattern?

Fans need to show up to games to have a rivalry. So can't be the Dees.

I'm actually quite glad that's over.

I turned on the idea of Craig about three weeks ago.

Someone who strongly considered so many offers (and ran with the biggest financial reward) displays a lack of direction to me.

It will benefit the Richmond Football Club greater to appoint someone who is actually eager to get the results, not check his bank balance.

We are spending our money wisely ladies and gentlemen, the club is in good hands. No need to buy out 100 assistants and over pay them.

We were not successful in getting Craig he preferred to go to Melbourne we are still incapable of landing a big name.

Wowee. How could he contemplate anyone other than the Tiges ?

I hope Craig ends up at Richmond. We've appointed Misson as our fitness/sports science manager (plus his right hand man) and outside of Buttifant there's none more highly regarded in the industry. This is also Craig's background.

Craig will be on heavy coin and I don't see him being a must at the Dees. I hope he looks elsewhere.

Some of you people seem desperate to land him and I'm not sure why.

I hope he doesn't choose the Dees.

:D:thumbsu:

Bad luck, I guess.

good on the club, held firm and didn't get into a bidding war with the Dees or Blues.

Two good appointments for the Dees this week, but with Rawlings, Royal, CC, and Schwab there, they need all the quality they can get.

interesting one will be the Blues, who do they chase? if they knifed Icke, but you would assume they have an alternative lined up. Also Icke is unlikely to be without a gig for long, so where is he off to?

The roles are completely different from my understanding, so you can't suggest we lost out to Melbourne. Craig chose Melbourne because the role is more of what he was after, and possibly the cash.

Ross Smith is a bigger name than Neil Craig from a footballing perspective.
220 odd games, played for Victoria. One of the highest acclaimed assistants in the game, at hawthorn for 7 years, helped coach them to a premiership, turned an undersized and 'iffy' backline into one the best back 6's in the game.

It's not all doom and gloom.

Spot on turtle. Id say Neil has selected the role in which he wishes to perform. If we were only offering a senior assistant position and he wanted more then why would he select us. Good on him for going through his process and if we wernt starved of finals action yet again then i doubt we all would have got so caught up in it, i mean its he was targeted as an assistant coach for crying out loud.

We have our coach and were headed in the right direction. Time to move on.

Big names are not always the best

You guys dodged a bullet their. :thumbsu:

His stubbornness would have brought all your young guns down.

Melbourne think they got a genius, they got nothing of the sort. They got someone who is too stubborn to change his mine, even when everyone is telling him things are not working.

You dodged that bullet.

yep. we got a dude that the Hawks (3rd/one kick away from the GF) wanted to keep, vs a dude who was fired from the Crows (14th)? hmm. tough call.

I agree, win for RFC again. Don't have an issue with Ross Smith either.

Kickng a lot of goals lately:thumbsu:

If we have to we can get Craig from Melbourne in the next 3-5 years if we need extra fitness acumen.

If anything RFC is looking stronger by the minute!!!!

Remember Malthouse and Craig should command less coin in 3-4 years just prior to us contending for a premiership.

Smart move all-around!!!
