Caro:

"Melbourne appears in the box seat to win Craig's services, but the Adelaide coaching veteran has not yet reached a final decision although he has indicated to his former club that his preference is to move to Melbourne - the city. The Demons' offer is a senior director of coaching role that would see Craig act as a mentor to Mark Neeld and his team as well as play a role in the physical conditioning department."

So that's Caro and Mike Sheahan now. Lets see how much they know?

Not sure of the purpose of linking that article or your post. You do realise I linked the same page and paraphrased from the same quote that you just used?

And true, let's see how much they know. I'm betting bugger all. It was only last week Caro was saying he was done to go to Richmond yet Hutchy said matter of factly on the Footy Show that it was Burns + Craig to get Demons job.

We all Trust what the media say now do we. They have been 100% so far.

There have been a lot of balls in the air though; probably waiting for the dust to settle.

I still think the Saints would be negligent if they didn't at least speak to Craigy...
I really can't see the saints admitting their window is closed. They'll have one last crack with a new coach, a guy like Craig would be ideal. Might well be something that would really appeal to him as well.

Media track record ain't great this week:

Freo keeping Harvey - FAIL

Eade to Freo - FAIL

Burns to Melbourne - FAIL

Cameron to Bulldogs - FAIL

Burns to Adelaide - FAIL

But yeah, they could get this one right....they are due....aren't they?

There is a presumption that Mark Neeld is OK with this too. I'm not sure I would be. After a long time playing second fiddle I personally would like to establish myself for a year or two before being comfortable enough to have a very experienced senior coahing option waiting in the wings at my new club. Obviously I know zip about whats going on but just how I would feel

Not sure if if it's been asked but would Dimma want an past experienced coach breathing down his neck. Do we know what role Craig would play?

I'm happy either way if we get Craig or not and am confident the club will continue to get the right people for our club.

I'm sure the club would have got Hardwick's opinion before we started to chase Craig. If not, then I'm disappointed in the club for being unprofessional. It should be Hardwick who has the biggest say in who his support staff should be.

Yeah true that. Would just be interesting to see what type of role we are chasing him for. I don't think it will be assistant coaching.

I remember the last time the term 'box seat' was used when securing someone services. That was us trying to secure Judd, and look at how that turned out.

The term 'box seat' usually means that you think ít's likely to go a certain way but in reality you have NFI.

HAHA nice one :thumbsu: Now how confident are you in Neil being a tiger for 2012 and beyond. :D

TBH I think it's 50/50 between us and Melbourne.

The fact that he didn't commit to going to Melbourne when Neeld was appointed coach when suppossedly it was a done deal if Burns got the job suggests that he is still deciding. The longer it takes the more confident it's going to go our way.

I believe that we have the deal done and dusted in the bag. In my opinion, Richmond are probably waiting for the right time to announce it. Every single controversy with coaches this year that have been hyped up by the media have all been incorrect so far, so I am pretty happy with us laying low.

So last week after spending the evening with the Tiges at the B&F Caro declares on 3AW that-

"Richmond put a very good presentation to Craig and strongly believe they are in the box seat."

Now fast forward six days and she declares-

"Melbourne appears in the box seat to win Craig's services, but the Adelaide coaching veteran has not yet reached a final decision although he has indicated to his former club that his preference is to move to Melbourne - the city."

I suppose it’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind.

Oh Come on Surely Craig is aloud to play the game Musicial chairs. Where Caro stops the music he ends up

Exactly how I see it mate; one last roll of the dice for the Saints next year; Craig would be perfect.

Chris connoly has been moved out of the dees footy department and into administration, they hope to get Craig to fill his role.

DAYS after appointing a new senior coach, Melbourne has cleaned out its football department, moving football boss Chris Connolly out of the department altogether, and parting ways with two assistant coaches and the fitness adviser.
Connolly has moved out of the football offices at AAMI Park and into the club's administration at the MCG across the road, as part of his shift from general manager of football into a commercial role of helping to ''grow the club''.
The Demons are hopeful of securing former Adelaide coach Neil Craig in an over-arching director of sport performance role, which would incorporate some elements of a football director as well as being a mentor to rookie coach Mark Neeld.

As well as treasurer, gardener, Garry Lyon's caddy, meteorologist, and all round good guy.

Bloody hell , looks like he will be doing everything in the place !

Why appoint a coach in this situation

Firstly Moron, Mission is a fitness coach. Neil Craig (if appointed) will be senior assistant coach. 2 different positions ********. Secondly, Richmond could have Jesus Christ coaching them and they'll still be shit. Tragic Club.

LOL this argument again. 117>>>>110. 12th>>>13th. I guess 12th draft pick is better than 14th. After all its the Melbourne way. ****wit

I must admit that the position their offering is different to the one we're offering. Even though Melbourne don't seem quite sure what the position is and making it up on the go. I hope that lack of direction by them will go in our favour.

Though Richmond must like their chances because I haven't heard the club inquiring about other candidates on the event we are not successful for Craig.
