Reported by Ryan Daniels that Erasmus has 4 clubs interested in him at present. The West Coast Eagles and 3 other Victorian teams. He has broken into the Fremantle midfield and shown some good signs in the past 4 weeks however. He stayed with Fremantle on a short term deal and has taken the spot from Jaeger O'Meara whose injured and played some pretty good football. He is also a former top 10 pick.

I think its fair to say most clubs would be offering more years and money then Fremantle will be offering. For Erasmus he has a decision to make. Does he believe he will be best 22 once Hayden Young and O'Meara are back or is his role now existing because of injuries. I think other teams would be offering a straight run into the best 22.

Eagles IMO stuffed up not getting him in last off season. He was a easy target and should 100% have been offered the Matt Owies 3 year deal. Now we are playing chasey to get him.

I think for Eagles and other teams they would be offering him that 3 year 1.8 mill deal to get him over and into best 22. His trade value probably sits in that pick 30-50 range and will simply be Fremantle taking the pick from the team who he chooses to go too in that range. For Eagles id probably be offering our pick 50 with threat of PSD existing. I think St Kilda and Demons would definetly have interest, no idea who 4th team would be

Gut tells me he will join the Demons to be honest

600k a year for Ras is crazy. Id hope for his own benefit he takes that

Yep. Welcome to 2025
Rated him between 30 and 50 and wants to offer him $600 000.
Seriously?
Ras has really improved his disposal and sped up his decision making which has meant hes not the liability in time and space he used to be BUT hes still an inside mid with few elite traits - the easiest role player to find.

I want to keep him as hes rounding out the midfield but 600k, regardless of how much capspace clubs have and the new CBA would be completely irresponsible. I wouldn't be surprised if thats double what Freo are offering.

I guess best to talk about percentages. Fairly confident Eagles would offer say double what you guys are on the logic he also gets a extra year on his deal

If Freo offer 2 years 800k then Eagles offer 3 years 1.5 mill

When Rhino first broke the story on the Sunday Rub (approx. 20:30 in, Link), he said it's "3 big Vic clubs" that are "in the finals race well and truly". Browny guesses Geelong, Collingwood and Hawthorn and Rhino says "You're not wrong on all 3, put it that way". Not sure how much mayo's being put on teams "in the finals race" - most people probably accept 8 of the current top 9 will form the top 8 come end of season, but stranger things have happened.

Re the money, doesn't seem like the narrative for now. Apparently his preference is to stay, and it's entirely about opportunity.

But to your point, could be akin to a Logue situation where the initial problem was we were offering him a pay cut, and we eventually offered him a contract he would've accepted before he started looking. But coz we made him look, he found North willing to offer him an insane amount of money and there was no going back. Here, maybe opportunity makes him start looking, but now that he's started looking, even if the opportunity side of things is sorted the money can talk.

100k a year pre tax wont move the needle for a player
for that he would be better staying at fremantle

Totally different player type but reminds me of Karl Amon in his first 70-odd games. Decision making is ok but speed of decision making is boarder line terminal.

Amon was a better kick, quicker and more versatile. Not sure a club will see the value in investing another 3 years and 40 games to find out if it clicks for Erasmus.

While his first 3 years have been nothing to write home about (particularly for a top 10 pick) he's just coming good now and is only 21. Tough one to assess regarding trade value or salary expectations. Also pretty tough to assess where he will land career wise to be honest.
Might be another Connor Blakely or really flourish at another club, ala Josh Kennedy at Sydney (not that good but you get my point).

Similar to Kozzie Pickett it’s amazing how a handful of good games can change a players requirement and value at a club

I’ll be honest in saying I didn’t think that Raz was cut out for higher level AFL but the last month I think he’s proven me wrong and is exactly the big body inside mid we need now and well into the future

I don’t see a long term place for Omeara so I’d like to see Freo make Raz a decent offer if they have the faith in him long term

You are spot on though , last year he would have been very gettable , still might be , conversations may have already been had and it’s only a matter of playing out the season and getting the best deal possible for himself and Freo

Reported on radio by Daniels that Freo have tabled a offer of around 2 year 1 mill for Erasmus but Eagles chasing him very hard and will offer more. We have made him our number 1 target this off season even ahead of Sheldrick
That is insane from us given how they've rated him previously, if true, I apologise for the criticism before.

If WC are our main contender, I'm confident he's going nowhere tbh and it sounds like some tit for tat following Kelly shenanigans

If this is true that is big money for Erasmus
what would the eagles offer need to be to move him
3 years @700k ?

That was asked as a question and Rhino said our interest is 100% legit and we are chasing very very hard. Id expect our offer is that 3 year 1.8 mill after all

According to Rhino Freo is putting an overs deal to him. 2-3 years on 5-600k.

It was on the recent hardball gets episode (not the mailbag).

Yeah, old mate told me above haha. I find that insane. The **** are we going to have to pay Murphy Reid in a few years...

Erasmus has been a bit of a talking point on our board and a fair bit of surprise at Freo’s supposed deal.

Can imagine it’s a ploy to increase his trade value.

According to Rhino on hardball gets Freo are going to put a deal worth overs in front of him. 2-3 years on 5-600k.

If we want him, we’ll have to offer a bigger deal than that. 4 years at 650k, front ended.

My guess is that is a way to force a better trade out of us than what he is worth on paper. It does become hard to argue a token pick for a guy you’re offering a four year deal to.

On paper it should be worth only marginally more than the Brockman deal of 44+61 from memory.

Freo will want at least Hawks 2nd (currently 31) and will ask for our 2nd.

I’d like us to give nothing more than a F3.

Would be remarkable if Ras was the one to break the trade embargo

Do you think/know if the embargo is real?

One of your mob is convinced that even if Erasmus wants to come a deal won’t be done land he’d have to go through the PsD as Freo would never deal with us. And he says his view is based on mail not just his opinion.

Too long a history of no trades for their not to be some kind of agreement to stay out of each others business. Bell might have upset that a few years ago but we still wait for the next player to actually change WA clubs via trade
