Literally, don't understand this storm in a tea cup...
Think it’s pretty obvious. In a normal year, it doesn’t mean anything. This year, we have been struggling to put a team on the park, and players have been asked not to go out to try and keep the risk of catching covid down.

They completely ignore this and at least one of them now has covid. We have to use WAFL players to field a team and can’t even field a reserves side.

want to hang with mates? Fine, grab a carton and meet at someone’s house. Don’t put yourself and everyone at risk by going to a nightclub.

I agree. Rothams trajectory was promising, he's just regressed awfully this year

Trajectory has followed team performance.

Makes it had to definitively judge our defenders, including Rotham, but his form line makes me wonder if he is a down hill skier and cannot handle pressure by opposition, especially since 2021 mid year when we have been pumped.

Maybe it's different sentiment here in Melbourne around covid than in Perth.

I don't still really see the issue here. Could get covid just as easy having beers at someone's house.

It's probably a different sentiment at every other club in the country seeing as none of them have our injury issues at the moment.

So it doesn’t really matter that they were told not to go and they did anyway??

Well explains why they struggle so much on field as simple instructions are ignored there to.

Morons. Hundreds of people at the Hip E Club and not one of the idiots thought to ask Chesser how his ankle was going. Or if they did they didn't post about it online, like you should expect them to in this day and age.

If he wasn’t wearing a guernsey five sizes too big for him, I’m not sure how many people would recognize him.

Covid aside, Players going out clubbing is a bizzare line to draw in the sand in terms of rage when you had a player sit out for 2 years for intentionally tampering with a drug sample not one but twice and then said player gets caught with weed at the airport a year or so later.

I honestly couldnt give a shit if players went clubbing, eventhough its pretty stupid when your a professional athlete when covid is rampant in perth. Its just bizzare the clubs gone to town on fringe players when there are senior midfielders who have let down this team for 3 years running.

You said it yourself "when covid is rampant in Perth" - we have enough players out now without still others putting the remaining players at risk of contagion, and purely for selfish gratification. Simple really.

This has to be the biggest smoke n mirrors garbage that has come from this clubs leadership in its reign.

Simpson and Nisbett have been nothing short of spineless in this.

Hardwick , a real leader, gets in front of his men when they stuff up , and deals with it behind closed doors, but Publicly is fierce in his defence of his men. Beveridge the same. In fact most quality leaders will protect their commodities..The players know they have their backs...not at West Coast though.

WCE head men left them out to dry.

These Players are not responsible for the clubs list issues... The coach and the CEO might have a greater influence one would hope. Yet they are letting these guys hang with threats and punishments.. gutless leadership that one might think deflects from the inadequacies of their own recent performances.... 80% of the playing salary is sitting in a rehab room , with some blokes contributing next to nothing over the past 2 years.

The club asked them to stay home, what employer has the right to tell anyone what they can do in their own time?? West Coast apparently think they can , even if they have an 8 day break.... The players association might suggest otherwise.

They did not Violate any AFL protocol . They Did NOT violate any State / Federal law pertaining to Covid or any other offence . They were not drunken or disorderly. They were not involved in any incidents that bought the game or anyone else into disrepute..... They are guilty of having their picture taken and having social commentary made about them , and assumptions made about their characters by experts.

They were asked not to attend by the club and did so anyway. But again what right does any employee have to demand that of their staff.

Interesting that the majority of the "criminals" were from Victorian. So when Simmo says stay home, they are at home not with their families like Adam and Trevor are. They in fact may well be at home alone. So spare me this crap that these blokes don't care for the club, they have far and away sacrificed more than any other Home grown Eagle , including Adam and Trevor , for this team.

In return these Leaders have thrown em under the bus, rather than addressing any indescretions within the club.......Gutless and spineless .... perhaps they should've given a bottle of Gatorade to a drug tester ... Adam was real supportive then...

Smoke n Mirrors from a failing leadership

I've never been one to pearl clutch about players "celebrating a defeat" but given the current performances, injury list and covid situation I would have thought a "Stay out of the limelight" policy might have been the best thought process for the next month or so.

PS that post earlier about faking positive covid tests is brilliant.

Now up to seven players involved.

Great news regarding English. Decent player but absolutely not the player we need at the start of a rebuild. Not sure why it would share the same Headline as the HipE 7, but there you go.

Now, perhaps we can give this unfunny overused joke about trading our pick 1 for English a rest?

Between Willie, Jack and these guys, it is clear there is a culture of selfishness and naivety (some would argue stupidity). I understand where you're coming from but where do you draw the line?

At least Willie's and Jack's incidents were individual lapses of judgement. This was a collective judgement. Also, three first/ second year players were involved in this group. Do we really want them following the likes of Nelson and Rotham or do we want to raise the bar for them?

I mentioned earlier in the thread that blokes are allowed to go out, live their lives and have a good time but as a few have mentioned here, what's wrong with grabbing a few cartons and having some mates around at home rather than risking compounding an existing issue?

Whately and king just discussed this and set it out pretty clearly.. two players yeah ok its a couple of rogues, 7 and its blatant disregard of the rules and total lack of respect for the club, coach and other players and is a culture issue and a lack of care for the predicament we are in. 100% correct..

How can the coach and playing group trust these guys again?

They really can only be fined due to circumstances but those outside first year guys should be told your contracts are null and void at the end of the year. You can find a club to go to and we will trade you or we pay out what your owed but the rest of the year your playing for your career but it wont be here..

Not having a go but that's missing the point on two fronts. At someone's house, there are unlikely to be hundreds of people at an indoor venue. There is obviously a numbers game to it, even if of course you could catch it at someone's house, you are not as likely to catch it.

But the real issue is if they were told not to do it in the current circumstances the club is facing and ignored it. That is a big issue in my opinion.

Interestingly Nisbett used the word “guidelines” a couple of times in this morning’s interview.
