I've been a long, long term Foxtel subscriber and have been watching Neroli since she first popped up on Fox Sports News way back in the day. She was an awesome presenter with a bubbly personality on camera and I became an instant fan. You could see she was going to become more than just a newsreader as time progressed. I like most people on here I assume, started to follow her on Instagram and Twitter (once they become what they are now)

One thing I started to notice on social media was, as she became more 'famous' at Fox Sports, she did come across as a little full of herself at times and very much a self-promoter. She was still a fantastic personality on camera, but I did start to wonder a few years ago what she might be like when the camera was turned off.

A few examples - when she was put on Fox Cricket last year, and all of a sudden, there were all these posts about how much she loved the game of cricket and how some of her earliest memories were watching cricket with her grandmother etc. Yet, up until last year, she had hardly posted about cricket at all. Fast forward to this year and of course, she isn't with Fox anymore, but there has not been one Twitter post about cricket. Now a true cricket fan like she claimed she was last year, might still post about cricket even if you didn't work for Fox anymore. Channel 7 shows it as well.....

Another example was every week religiously she would put something up about 'On the Mark' - fair enough, yet there was one particular week last year that she wasn't on the show, and surprise, surprise, there was nothing from Neroli that week promoting "On the Mark'.

It was much the same when she was on boundary duties during a game. Lots of posts about the particular game that she was at, a post about how it was always her dream to do boundary, however, if she wasn't apart of the coverage of other games, you would hear crickets from her (Freo aside). And of course, as has already been mentioned earlier in this thread, she was front and centre of several news reports when the Chris Gayle thing was going down - if you didn't know any better you would have sworn it was her and not Mel that actually had it happen. No way I am defending Gayle, but I thought the way Neroli carried on was not right either.

If you follow her on Twitter closely it also becomes pretty evident she is a hardcore socialist and feminist judging by many of the Tweets she 'likes' on there. Not that either of those matter one iota, however, I do think that many of her fans might be surprised if they ever ran into her down at a pub for a drink - she may not be the fun-loving girl next door you were expecting!

Putting all of the above aside, no one can argue that she wasn't amazing in front of the camera and you can see that with all the support she has got since the job at Fox fell through.

However, I do think that there must be much more to story as to why she got axed and I certainly don't believe for a second it was 'cost-cutting'. It will be interesting to see where she might end up and in what role and then I'll wait till the social media self-promotion bombing starts again.

In the meantime, I'll still enjoy her holiday pics ;)

I like the comment but it is common across social media maybe more with Linkedin than Twitter where people will talk nearly non-stop about something then when they change job they go silent or they start on something totally different. But if she is still on holidays then that might explain her lack of comments on sport.

In terms of politics, Fox Footy personalities seem to be across the political spectrum with Eddie being brother to an ALP MP so I don't think her politics would have been an issue.

there would be more to the story, even if we take her on-air personality at face value versus the others on Fox Footy, she might have been seen as over the top as sometimes happens when someone always talks up whatever they are doing and if her TFS laugh was for real then that might have gated but it could be simply down to her and employer not agreeing to terms.

So socialists and feminists can’t be fun loving? How odd. Don’t think she’s a socialist as such let alone hardcore, do you mean she’s not a conservative?

Sport is her job as well so maybe outside of that she wants to post/tweet about other things.

Biggest surprise with Meadows to me was her poor judgement in taking up TFS role when it was dead in the water. Money isn’t everything

there are no other teams worthy
Fox sports seem to have the woman hosting the draft night doing roles Neroli used to do.
Man, the difference is large. Bland personality compared to Neroli.
Cost cutting or just bad decision making?
Anyway, Neroli herself made really bad call trying to take on a dying Footy Show in total different structure with Lehmo as a co-host..rofl...
What was she thinking ?

Being mates with Mick Molloy it will be interesting if she pops up on the front bar every now and again next year.

you'd need a new thread to cover it all. had a touch of the motor mouths. maybe too anxious to impress the fat man. pass.

Probably a good trait to have if you want a radio gig.

Yeah I couldn't believe she did that as well. I don't mind her at all, its obvious she got the sack but Fox gave her the 'cost cutting' line. Cost cutting for what? It's a farce until I have further info on what really happened

Further to my previous post, my industry insider mate (ex TV producer) has learnt it was simply a failure to agree to new terms of her contract - a common occurrence in this industry he says. Apparently there were also 8 other production staff who also left or got the flick.

Fox wanted/needed cuts across the board, they offered new terms to most staff of around -5% remuneration. Meadows and/or her manager counter with +10%, neither party budges, expiry date for negotiations arrives and Meadows is given an empty cardboard box.
End of story.

There has been a number of staff let go at Sky News as well because despite the number of ads and the cost of its packages Foxtel isn't doing that well.

If Andy Maher impresses the fat man, surely Ms Meadows will pass easily.
not a fan of radar. just thought neroli was dominating the conversations - i mean that in an overbearing way. trying too hard.

on a broader question don't think her ill fated move to 9 endeared her to fox. might have been her undoing there.

really. would have thought the opposite. listening is what the pros say is the key.
Wasn’t she working with Bob Murphy? I’d say Bob forces the co host to talk more as he has so little to say.

Don’t think she dominated any more than Radar did/does.

Does your industry insider mate (ex TV producer) have any insight into what she was like to work with?

Not really, he is no gossip and neither am I - however his wife, who still works in the industry as a production manager (not with Fox), said it's no secret that Meadows could often be opinionated and emotional, but also said she doubts this was a factor with her being 'let go'...

Interesting term used often in the workplace to describe women. If it was a man they’d say he was tough.
