When you're coming to a red light (or a stop sign), and you're quite confident that you'll end up at a complete stop, do you:

Put to car into neutral, and then let it coast towards the red light (e.g 4th > N)?

or

Do you downshift (e.g 4 - 3 - 2 - 1)?

Due to a force of habit, I seem to almost always coast with neutral to a stop.

Coast that shit. You control the car with the break pedal and if you need speed you quickly pop it into gear and dominate.
This guys speaks nothing but absolute truth, and oozes awesome. In other words, neutral.

I drive a shitty auto and even I hit neutral from a distance. Although having said that if I was in a manual and was inclined to 'dominate' (serious lols) Id downshift... but Im not the type who feels the need to use my car as some kind of dominating tool.

I usually downshift to 3rd or 2nd, just from force of habit, and then coast just before stopping. If you've downshifted then you're ready for an unexpected lights change before you come to a halt.

However downshifting to 1st is too much of a hassle, in any circumstances.

Downshift to 3rd and maybe 2nd then into neutral.
Downshifting to 1st is just way OTT

Neutral. Only downshift if I am approaching the lights where they have just changed from Red to Green

such a square! ;)

I'll go from 4 to nuetral and as i'm coming to a complete stop I'll put it in 2nd. When i'm ready to take off i do so in 1st.

I do a hibrid.

I dont do neutral because I sit there with the clutch in ready to drop it and rock it.

4th to 2nd skipping 3rd then into 1st when I stop. Usually rev the engine quite a lot to let everyone know that my car is 1.8L of pure zip.

i usually downshift when coming up to a light, and try not to stop. Since ive got a 1.5 lancer i generally have to downshift to get any sort of power going to the drivetrain.

When I first got my license, I would downshift from 4 to 2 and then go to 1st if required. Then for some reason I changed that to include 3rd.

Doesn't matter now as my new car is an auto. Would've preferred a manual but they are really hard to find and the car is relatively rare as it is.

For all the hardcores in here :thumbsu:

Neutral, from as far as 400-500 metres away. **** changing gears if I don't need to. Always give it a rev before the lights change too.

Gear down and use the brakes at the same time. Fifth to third, then to second or fourth to second, go easy on the brakes and don't let it rev too high.

Better control over the car that way and you don't know what the average nuffy around you is going to do. If you're in a lower gear without having to change from neutral you can get yourself out of trouble a lot easier.

I leave my car in 5th all the time. Just ride the clutch like the hardcore mofo that I am. Sometimes I'll take off in 4th though if I feel like having an easy drive.
