Essendon supporters queing up for Grand Final tickets....

Tsk tsk... shouldn't really be too over-confident, after all (and I'm not trying to bring up the past... just giving an example), remember what happened in '99??
 
Umm...but then you have to look at the other side of the coin meg. Remember 38,000+ members doesn't go into 15,000 (GF member allocation). If they didn't line up now, they'd miss out altogether. I have grave concerns tomorrow afternoon as the queue tickets will be handed out at 6pm tomorrow afternoon at the MCG. Now that is ludicrous. There will no doubt be some sort of riot!

When it comes to lining up, you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. Blame the AFL, not Bronze Essendon members. I personally have a membership the guarantees a GF ticket if my team is competing.

I won't be thinking about the GF until the final siren goes on Saturday and we are in front.

Yes, but how many Hawthorn supporters are lining up in relation to Essendon supporters?

It's a tough one - a small part of me wants to go line up, just in case. But in reality we are only a slim chance tomorrow and I'd much rather just enjoy the buildup, and then if it happens it happens.

I figure most Hawthorn members feel the same way I do, so if we do win it will be such a surprise there may still be a chance of getting in line after the game.

If not, it's the Herald Sun classifieds and a big hole in my wallet!
 
Yeah cool. What i'm trying to get at is supporters will always line up...especially those who aren't quaranteed tickets if their team is participating. I could never line up for as long as some of these people do. I get jacked-off after being in a queue for 5 minutes, let alone 5 days!

Just because some choose to line up, doesn't mean they are necessarily arrogant. Just that they'd like to have the opportunity to see their team play in a GF. And lining up for days on end is their only real hope.

Probably in the same proportion as those who think they'll win. Ie you'd expect the favourite to have more, particularly after last year.

Still I wont be joining any queue until after the game.
 
There are a fair few hawthorn guys down there.
Also, at last years queue there were alot of carlton fans, suprisingly, the week leading up to the prelim everyone got along fine.

Hate to spoil your fun Meg, but every clubs supporters do that when they make Prelim Finals. Geelong supporters did it all the time. It isn't anything new.

Exactly. Even north supporters did it last year.

If you drive over Latrobe Street bridge at Colonial Stadium you'll see more than 150 Tiger fans doing the exact same thing

Article on afl.com.au says an Essendon/Richmond GF - ordinary Essendon members will get 3400 tickets (and they have 30,000 plus members)

Bloody joke - where are all these tickets going?

Its not just Essendon. Listening to that rabid Richmond supporter Steve Price this afternoon was sickening. Talk of "what are the poor souls bussing it to QLD this weekend going to do - how are they supposed to queue up for GF tickets after the game?" and like comments.

They're just as entitled to think about next week as Essendon, but will I laugh at Price next week if they lose? You bet.

Here I am Meg. Don't listen to any of em...this is a sensational thread! No sweeter memory than in 99, getting down to the Arts Centre to see forlorn Dons fans collecting their chairs and walking off into the distance..................................................................

I was listening to AM radio earlier today though, and they were interviewing some "random" Dons fans and asking them if they were getting too far ahead of themselves - you still have Hawthorn to play. The standard response, no kidding, was - we have absolutely nothing to worry about tomorrow. 70 points is the bare minimum - if Lloydy was playing it'd be well over 100.

Get me a bucket!

:D Totally predictable Bomber fans. Wouldn't expect anything less. If the Hawks do get up, then maybe they can put up with the endless rantings about how they didn't deserve to win the Prelim, how Essendon kicked 3.48 to lose by one point and though the free kick count was equal, the Hawks deadset had 19 men on the field, one dressed in white that lead directly to 10 goals for them and ...........

Look at all those eggs about to hatch, I wonder how many chickens are in there? Let's start counting them shall we?;)
