I have a partner, so not single, but not having children I do wonder what is going to happen to my things when I'm gone. There is no way any of my nieces or nephews deserve a cent of it. I think I'll probably just leave it to the RSPCA.

Your nieces and nephews probably need it a lot more than the RSPCA.

Always thought I would be an early marrier because of how late my folks left it & I thought it was weird having the oldest parents.

But now I think I'll likely leave it late, you'd reckon you want to be single in the prime years.

Does anyone think that some people are just meant to be single? There's lots of people who try all sorts of things to meet the right person and every attempt fails.
Well there are no rules. Just sometimes things dont work out or you are burnt too many times to bother trying.

I myself am in a 5 year relationship, going well, but I feel like should we ever part Id be happy enough by myself because Im horrible at start up conversations and too old for clubs etc... plus looks are fading [emoji41]

I told my GF that if we broke up Id just stay single and she took it as I couldnt live with anyone but her but it was more like I couldnt be bothered

Family friend died last year, about 65 years old and told my Dad before his mind went that his biggest regret was hardly travelling.

I found that very sad to hear.

Going to try and do as much travelling as i can in the next 5 years.

Me too. I'd love to travel more, preferably with someone but the conversation tends to veer toward mortgages and babies.

Plus I want to do it when young. Don't know how well I'll age or if my job/career will hold out. Never been much good @ making money tbh.

Yep. Plus if you meet someone with issues themselves + your own self it sinks the whole thing.

He sounds like a typical old ****ing boomer. Young people have no chance of a house. And hey, even if they do spend the $10,000 or $30,000 or whatever on travel... who ****in cares? They're your flesh n blood, bah. The RSPCA is such a shitty charity too, I mean we're dealing with cats and dogs in Australia and not the plight of the rainbow lorikeet or stopping global warming or helping someone find the cure to something. 'My grandparents would just squander it...' ****in boomers.

Travelling at that age is all god but why would you wait so long? Go check out an Asian country, you can do it on a shoestring budget. If you're travelling for the first time at that age you might be well and truly set in your ways and not enjoy the experience at all/get little out of it (eat every meal at the hotel, only do group tours etc etc).

Yeah I have travelled before but at this stage am in a bit of personal debt that I envisage being out of in a couple years... dont wanna get another loan for a big holiday so would like to save a bit before I go.

Im getting older now and finding museums/sightseeing etc more interesting than clubs/drinking etc

We'll see... GF wants to go to NZ so we might do that between now and 40s lol

Blaming different generations for the problems of the economy and their views is one of the most pointless things you could ever do.

What about if it's their fault?

Generational wealth is a big problem in Australia. Much bigger than any rich vs poor class divide.

I don't know how many from my grandparents' generation are still alive, but if I look at my family (immediate and extended) family friends etc. the baby boomer generation in the middle have more than the other two put together.

You're such an angry little man. Go have another beer.

FYI most of my nephews and nieces are ice addicts, so I'm not being facetious when I say they would squander it.

Never married. No desire to be.

I like my job, I like footy, I like hiking, I like travelling. My money from my job goes to the next 3 things. My job often allows me to watch and talk footy all weekend (unless busy).

I can see these things being impacted if I was married. It was when in a long term relationship. I`m happy with my own company and have travelled by myself plenty and enjoyably.

I don't think not getting married has been negative for me although I know plenty of friends who are much more sociable and dependent would be in an extremely bad space if they never got married. Type of people who want someone to lean on and be leaned on. Just different personalities is all.

The Liberal Party, News Corp Australia, Institute of Public Affairs (paid to be on your ABC) and their fellow travellers don't want anybody talking about the war on the poor, so when it comes up they scream "CLASS WARFARE!". That usually doesn't work, however they've learned to switch the topic to Baby Boomers vs Millenials junk to shutdown debate on the real topic. There's plenty of baby boomers with not much and plenty of kids in places like Kew and Hawthorn who are set for life.

Go pop some more pills, you and your mates are the biggest addicts of the lot.

If you want to be tough and say how perfect you are, maybe wonder how your lineage allowed for ice to sneak in?

Every generation has rich and poor. In an ordinary timeline if 10% of families are rich in one generation then (the same) 10% will be rich in the next. Inherited wealth and all that. The reverse applies at the opposite end of the scale. Parents poor, you poor, your kids poor. Etc. The baby boomer generation stands out massively.

You have a fair history of saying stupid stuff but this is in the top 3. Congrats you reached peak stupid
