I'm not sure we've compromised anything.

People have to understand this is a TRAINING facility. We already have our post match at the ground and plenty of places to go before the game.

This "OMG It doesn't have a liquor license" argument is bizarre.

Did I mention anything about liquor licensing?

I just stating that one thing all crows fans have been crying out for is a place to go an watch away games or finals among die hard crows fans, where the club can hold family events, community events and functions

Even our own supporters group have no where to make banner.

I don't reckon so EC, I think the crows are playing the long game - if you just came out and made it designed mainly towards your supporters and not the whole general public it would not get approved. This submission is about playing the long game, get a foothold then slowly manipulate it into exactly what you want.
Have patience grasshopper!
Yeah this. If we proposed a liquor licence and everything we want straight up there is zero chance it would get approved. Once we are in there we can start trying to get the rest of what we want

So, the parklands are for everyone, and we shouldn't build/do anything on them

except for:
the current Aquatics Centre
the North Adelaide Golf Course
the Adelaide Pavillion in Veale Gardens
the Adelaide Hockey Club
the Adelaide City Football Club
the South Australian Croquet Association
the Kenilworth Cricket Club
TreeClimb
the Victoria Park Racecourse
the Clipsal 500*
Prince Alfred College
the Adelaide Bowling Club
the National Wine Centre
the Bicentennial Conservatory
the Adelaide University Athletics Club
the Adelaide Archery Club
those secret tennis courts across from Ann Moran's place
the West Adelaide Hellas Soccer Club
Adelaide High School
the Boneshaker Cafe (for the Comets)
the Netball courts
the Adelaide Lutheran Sports Club

Gee, i'm not sure we should do anything in the parklands, i don't want to create a precedent...
Adelaide Oval

How long is the Magarey Room open for?
Got no idea. Two hours max?

Can't see the club having an aftermatch at another venue going much longer.

Especially night games.

Game ends around 930ish.

Half hour for people to get to North Adelaide. 10pm.

There is no way the club keeps a function going beyond midnight....

Logistically a function happening away from AO is unlikely to happen. Unless it is in the immediate vicinity ie Casino, Convention Centre, Rowing Club or a local pub.

Magarey room is really the only realistic venue for a post game function.

I did completely miss the Port Club as a social club (I mixed it up with the Alberton Hotel), mind you, there is nothing that is officially promoted via the club as a post-match thing, though they do have links to both the Port Club, and Prince of Wales hotels/pubs/whatever in their membership.

By the looks of it, both seem more designed as an alternate venue to watch football going by their descriptions (especially factoring in that membership will only get you a cheaper meal), instead of a go-to hub post-match, though both might pick up a handful of blow-ins (though that in itself would be limited to people living in and around Port Adelaide). Looks like a location set for supporter clubs to meet, watch away games, and an area to run the occasional event.

Richmond or Adelaide are in desperate need of building a “club” culture?

Considering Richmond were forced to rebuild their club culture (from a position of no grand final wins in 30+ years) only 4-5 years ago, they managed without a social club/utilising a supporter hub.

Doesn't exactly support the notion that this is necessary, or even desirable for a good club to function.

Their facility was around before 2017 you know. Hawthorn too.

I dont go to the post match, does that make me a bad supporter ??
Both clubs don’t have any issues being identified as clubs, even when they were poor.

As for your last comment, nothing I’ve posted suggests thats my opinion on posters who don’t go post match. I don’t go but I would if it was at my club in close proximity

You’re confusing team performance with club culture

You’re confusing team performance with club culture

No. Team (and admin) performance dictates club culture.

Nothing else matters.

A "club" which is dishonest and supports a culture of self survival isn't a true club, no matter how many places they own where supporters can get a drink. Nor does those places offer the chance to fix any of those issues.

The way to fix Adelaide is the exact same to fix Richmond a few years back. Purge the high ups which inadvertently promote this culture, and bring in good people to oversee it.

It surprises me that some feel that a Sporting club is not a true Club because it does not have clubrooms, or sell alcohol.
To me, that is an insult to the 1000's of a sporting club in Australia that plays every week have fun but do not have clubrooms, And some are Clubs with a strong history,
Years ago a clubroom was where you changed before and after, they did not sell beer or even supply food, Most of that happened inside the grounds at the caravans or specially built building cater to sell goods,
And the so-called Clubs that had clubroom were very exclusive and limited in size.
Most sporting clubs went to the Pubs who had lounges and beer gardens were Females and minors were allowed after the games.
Yet people still have this fascination without a modern-day clubroom it is not a true club.
Before you start you need to remember back in the day they were limited in size and minors were not allowed. Go back further and Females were not allowed.

When Richmond were playing poorly, did their supporters identify them as a club or corporation?

I did have to laugh at this on the 5AA website

Leith said as a dad he didn't think the AFC plan stacked up for families…
“I think it’s great for the Crows but it doesn’t work in terms of a public space. You’re replacing an aquatic centre with a pool. One pool. One.
“I was there four days ago with my daughter. You know how many pools there are? Five. There is a kids pool, there’s a diving pool, there’s a lane pool, there’s a play pool and I guess you can count the water slide in there as well…
“Five into one. That maths doesn’t work for me… it doesn’t solve the Aquatic Centre problem for me.”
1. Kids Pool
2. Diving Pool
3. Lane Pool
4. Play Pool
5. Water slide

Leith, that maths doesn't work for me either!

aaa

Nice try, you do know how to read and understand that there can not be full plans until the council inform the club of what it needs for the swimming complex is. ie how many pools and spas, Also if you read the report you would see that the would-be a gym for the Public,
The Crows training venue will a 2 story one which was also reported.
As for the Ground, Public use would most likely be after training which has been mentioned several times, or on the 2 ovals next door. You may even find that BlackFiars will use the ground for there bigger games due to Spector seating being available for the public at all times.

haha it's not even an issue, Footy Park will be a public oval if we stay there, we used to go for a kick on Max Basheer Reserve often, never a problem, the park lands will be no different. Plenty of clubs in Melbourne are public and if fences, maybe a waist high fence with open gates, again not a problem for locals to go in and use them most of the time.

Some people are making it out to be another big bad Crows taking over thing if we are not running all of our gym sessions in the public gym surrounded by the people, doing recovery in the public pool and probably letting fans sit in on team meetings as well.

This is pretty much the set up of many clubs and won't be an issue.

Ofcourse, she didn't correct him either, even without knowing what the council actually want, the club wasn't stupid enough to think they could get away with 1 swimming pool.

The images released show at least 3 pools (one with play equipment) and likely a 4th.

Fagan was on SEN this morning, they haven’t begun speaking to licensed venues yet until they presented to the council, now they can.

Could be one or multi venues.

They should have bought the Cathedral Hotel went it went up for sale a few years ago, done up right would be a gold mine matchdays

As a supporter I just want somewhere to go to watch Training with adequate parking facilities.

Before and after games I just head on into the city if I want a drink or food.

Club's social media team needs to pick up the slack that the Shed lost and post more player content so we can connect with them. Currently it feels like a maximum of 5 players actually care about the club and don't see it as just a job and mega cash in the pocket.

I know, could of done $1 off your beer if you're a member or have a ticket to the game. People would flock there!

What happened to the curious squire? That could have been an option too

The problem is that apart from footy and cricket days The Catherdral struggles financially.

I know someone who looked into buying the leasehold and it didn't stack up as a great earner overall.

Like most pubs in SA not owned by Woollies, Coles or a consortium like The Hurley Group.
