I met a guy on the bus here in Edmonton wearing a Geelong Cats hat! It was nice that he tried to explain to me who the Cats are.

I wanted to give this thread a bump. I just re-read it and, there is so much fantastic information in here for new AFL fans it would be a shame to not share it.
Thank you to all of the great posters who contributed. From videos to rule explanations to book recommendations, this thread has it all. Thanks for helping me to become the passionate footy fan I have become, I am sure this information will help others too.
I am going into my 4th AFL season and I am really looking forward to it - the late nights of watching Suns football is one of life's sweet pleasures. Less than two months to round 1, I can't wait!
