Discussion new AFL state shield logos (official)

We've all seen the new VFL and NE logo but has anyone else noticed these new "state shields" floating around? I've seen a few on the news, here are some examples




this is all i could find, I would have thought NT, NSW and ACT would also have them. Is the AFL planing on doing something similar with the WAFL and SANFL as well? much like the NRL

The VFL, SANFL, and WAFL shields being squashed into those templates would be such a disappointment. Thankfully, the stubborn parochialism of South Australia and Western Australia is showing some benefits.

yeah true, I just put them up there to show the shield theme the AFL are going with. I was more interested to see if anyone knew anything about the state league logos and wether something like this is going to pop up in the future

I think the SANFL need to pull their head out of the sands and embrace the AFL.

Because what will happen eventually is the SANFL will be on their knees one day, all but broke, and begging to either be saved or put out of their misery.

Won't happen to the SANFL logo becasue they refuse to become AFL-SA running the SANFL competition. Good on them. They're an Australian Rules Football league. They're not an AFL league.

Well actually there is no such thing as 'Australian Rules', only 'Australian Football' so on one level they are an 'Australian Football League'.

If they are not associating themselves with the AFL, why do the Crows have a reserves team in the SANFL.

That's a different kettle of fish.
They refuse to be an organisation called AFL-South Australia (like AFL-Victoria), who run the SANFL as a competition.
Crows/Port reserves are a way they will work WITH the AFL, as opposed to working FOR the AFL. Same with the Draft, underage Championships etc.

It would be the end of state league football if the SANFL became AFL-SA. **** me that'd be tragic.

We have pride and history in this state, and won't succumb to a corporate organisation trying to overtake everything in Australia.

The AFL should be helping the state leagues administrations, not just scooping them up and re-branding them in some hostile and total takeover of the game.

I'm not an expert with other picture manipulation programs so I only did these with Paint, so yeah they do look a little amatuerish. The current NTFL logo carries a bull or buffalo on it, so I tried to keep that theme going but used the Chicago Bulls logo on it along with the NT flag up top.

I reckon the NEAFL logo should carry a small stripe of colour from each participating state.

NT -- ochre
QLD -- maroon
NSW & ACT -- blue & gold

Im not so sure. Keep it to a couple of colours for the the comp, otherwise it becomes too cluttered

The AFL logo remains a bad and 'orrible thing. I wish they would just run the words 'AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL' over the top arc.
