They're very much in the mire with this. Paine's nowhere near experienced enough given how many injuries he's suffered. Maybe George Bailey to come back into the side for a year? Honestly, Clarke coming out of retirement for next summer wouldn't be the worst thing in the world when you look at the other options.

Seems quite odd thinking Paine might be captaining the 2019 Ashes. There's no other options though, it'd be detrimental to a lot of the younger options and guys like Khawaja are a failure or two away from being axed as it is.

I agree that parachuting Mitch in isn't ideal, but he's as good a candidate as any under these dire circumstances (i.e - not very).

Well considering at the start of this season Tim Paine was a Hobart club cricketer and Mitch Marsh mathematically the worst Australian batsmen of all time and they're currently the top two choices...

Everything is possible. Having said that, you'd think they'd bring in Gorgeous George for a summer as skipper while they sort out the mess and then decide which of Starc and Hazlewood has come out smelling rosiest.

I don't think there is any evidence whatsover that Starc or Hazlewood did anything wrong.

I think they will stick with Paine.

If they were part of the leadership group that made the decision, and evidence is stacked in that direction, then yes they were involved.

The cupboard is bare hence why i mentioned Shaun Marsh.

There is no evidence that they were part of the group in the decision just yet.
