The nbl weren't allowing them to use the Illawarra name unless they met benchmarks regarding local engagement, membership and local based sponsorship. They were able to do that and the nbl agreed to give the location name back.

It was originally the Illawarra Hawks before being changed to Wollongong in 1985, and reverting back to Illawarra in 2015 after a local takeover (which only lasted 5ish years, before going into administration)

Is it just me or are these 'Earned' jerseys getting lazier and lazier at each iteration. It's weird saying this but there are too many jerseys, so much so that it's reducing the quality and effort put into each one across the board.

Earned jerseys are such a weird concept and they're usually s**t, though besides that I think Nike have been pretty on the ball, especially with the city uniforms, most have been awesome.

Yeah it might just be because im a bit of a 'less is more' kind of guy, but I just miss when it was just a simple Home, Away, Alternate and then maybe a special one-off jersey like those Christmas ones they used to have. It just seems like Nike are pumping out jerseys for the sake of it now.

Some are really good Illawarra Hawks and Wildcats both get ticks. SEM Pheonix is good for a Fauxback. The rest are pretty crap really. Missed opportunity to roll out the 36ers royal blue and surely a Melbourne Tigers throwback would have been the highest seller of the lot!
