Ladies & Gents,

As the fog of the Grand final loss lifts, the sun shines on this beautiful city of Melbourne and the mind begins to seek clarity, i look forward to new beginning in the next 12 months.

I look forward to ;

- Buckley to emerge from living in the shadow of Mick & stamping his authority on proceedings.
- Another Hine special during the draft
- Cam Wood to become our No.1 ruckman
- Rambo to take his place in the back half.

Non Pies related stuff i look forward to

- GWS - very exicting to see another new team in the AFL
- Live footy on foxtel :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu:
- Mark Neeld as Melbourne coach

What are you excited about / looking forward to?

Cam Wood our number 1 ruckman?

Heaven help us.

Not adding to the thread but having a dig at one of our players. Nice.

OK, i will put a wager on it. Cam Wood will surpass your expectations, state them here or PM me. $100 on offer.

I am looking forward to watching Wood improve and become a regular member in the 22. Jolly will be 30 and we will need to manage him well just like Geelong did with Ottens this year. Also want to see Josh Thomas next season I think he will be a very good footballer.

Boom, that's what i am talking about.. manage Jolly's work load and load up Wood, i have faith he will stand on his two feet once given the opportunity week in, week out.

I'd love too see cam wood take a big step up in his development this year, similar to mcevoy at st kilda. Would be very important for us I reckon. Look forward to seeing the younger players continue to improve and get us back to another gf!

I still have doubts about Wood doing the job full time. Jols will be cherry ripe for next season. Time will tell on Wood.

I'd love to see Josh Thomas next season. Has the tools, needs the opportunity now (provided his body remains in tact).

Want to see the Sack more frequently too. His rangy type gives us so much flexibility.

Marty Clarke back at Collingwood would be nice too.

- Buckley to change the game again.
- Nathan Brown comes in to play along side Reid and Taz and terrorise forward lines
- Brad Dick hopefully doesn't fall apart and can terrorise defenses with Krak
- Wood takes over the mantle of no.1 ruck, and hopefully Witts or Keefe come through as the back up
- Fasolo puts on some weight, hardens his body up some more and hopefully dominates
- Macaffer and Didak get a pre-season under their belt and get back into firing form and become like 2 new recruits
- Hopefully Bucks has assured the Sack of his spot in the 22 and he puts Toovey into the position of 'depth player'

There's a lot to look forward to when you think more about it.

Tarrant does a Richo of 2008 with a vintage year as a swingman.

Watch as Rambo returns, Taz must move up field for most games.

Will be fun to watch Taz, Dawes, Cloke.

No coincidence our best qtr all year had Taz thrown fwd v Crows.

I know not always just occasionally Pies need to have players role switches that trip our opponents up.

- Didak to get back to his best
- Fasolo to have a very exciting year
- Witts/Mooney
- Sidebottom/Blair/Beams/Reid/Thomas to get better
- Buckleys no garbarge approach (god i love him)
- Dawes to step up and kick 50-60 goals

A few things I'd like to see:

- Goldsack having a full preseason
- Didak having a full preseason
- J.Thomas to have a full preseason
- Macaffer to have a full preseason
(I guess everyone to have a full preseason but the ones above missed out this year because of it)
- Everyone who is injured to have recovered (Brown, Jolly etc)
- Continued development (Wood, Keeffe, Dawes in particular)

I guess it's pretty standard really but Goldsack, Didak & Macaffer will make a big difference to the side if they're all fully fit. Josh Thomas could be a great player too.

- Buckley's first game.
- Buckley vs Hird on Anzac Day
- Buckley's first post match conference
- Buckley rallying up the troops on Grand Final Day
- Buckley holding up the premiership cup

And on a smaller scale
- Krakeour getting a full pre-season
- Dawes and Cloke working together at 100%
- Wood playing
- Nathan Brown back
- Hopefully Marty Clarke back
- Fasolo, J.Thomas, Sinclar, Rounds or Bolton to get a game

A tweaking of the game plan similar to what Scott has done with the Cats.

A gradual improvement during the season building momentum into the finals similar to 2010.

Seeing Young, Seedsman, Fasolo, Thomas, Keefe, Mooney and Bolton get opportunities. Maybe Ugle, ceglar and Witts as well.

Daniel Farmer kicking 40 goals in the VFL and announcing himself as a real prospect.

Jackson Starcevich joining the Pies as a last round pick and tyson carracher and Michael hartley showing promise as rookies.

St Kilda and carlton both having an off season school girl episode.

People, there is some serious excitement waiting for us next year

Buckley + Hart + Eade = Woweeeeee

Bucks - Perfectionist, good communicator, prefers skills over athleticism. Will make us more accurate / skillful by foot me thinks.

Eade - Under him the dogs were super fit & super quick. Aker even complained that the work load was too much.

Hart - I don't know much about ; i am a new student of this game so don't know about some of the older players. What are his strengths?

With the guys above in charge I just have this vision of us playing fast , free flowing footy through the corridor with excellent defensive setups

With Hart... all the adelaide crows supporters are saying his exellent so his a great addition based from then. "his the only coach i would of kept" ect ect

From a game plan perspective I am looking forward to a more offensive strategy and finally moving away from Mick's boundary line movement.

The boundary strategy definitely worked, it made us very hard to score against, however it limited our own scoring output. The boundary strategy was low risk and suited our team a few years ago that was not the best in the skills & ability department. They were goers and hard workers but lacked the polish of other teams.

We now have a team that is full of skill & speed, by playing low risk footy we were limiting the teams output. We also now have a dangerous forward line that we need to get the ball into quickly and effectively.

I think Buckley & Eade are a good team. Both value contested footy and this element of our game can't change, however both will place an emphasis on fast, effecient ball movement. By improving the effeciency we can take more risks & be more direct. Lets use the flair & creativity of Thomas, Pendlebury, Didak & Krakouer forward of centre. Use the foot skills of Reid, Shaw and Davis coming out of defensive.

I think recruiters will place an emphasis on players that can use the ball well - skills & decision making. This is the counter to the enourmous defensive pressure that is put on these days. You cannot afford to turn the ball over, this is where most scoring is generated from.

Micks boundary strategy meant that if we did turn it over it would be in a position that is harder to counter attack from. The way forward is simply to improve our skill level and turn it over less and then be more offensive bringing the ball forward - I think a few sides improved this drastically from last year : WC, Hawks & Bombers. Their kicking effeciency went right up & so did their ladder position. Geelong as we know has always used the ball brilliantly.
