I'm tipping (in order of most to least games) Suban, Hill and Sonny to all play AFL at some point next year ... Buca some chance too, but would be surprised to see the others get a game.

Ballantyne.... although you could have left him out because he is a given.

So Suban, SunSun and probably Chris Hall will play the most.

Suban = 18 (Looks AFL ready and can play a defensive tagging role if needed)
Walters = 12 (Allows Mayne to move further up the ground with Balla in the other pocket)
Hall = 10 (Harveys new found love for speed and a bit of X-Factor will come into play. Hall will make cameos regularly but will be pushed out through players coming of the injury list, Hill dominating in the WAFL so we have to play him etc.)

Get stuffed mate, we know who you really support

meh, i can watch more than one team if i want. Plus the WAFL can get boring so i dont really watch that.

Freo of course

But i dont mind watching Geelong dominate every side and the game style that Essendon have.

Nothing wrong with watching Geelong! I supported them (and still do support them in any non-Dockers games), having lived next door to Kardinia Park, watched the Ablett years, and screamed support through a host of losing Grand Finals over in the West; in a little village called Fremantle; versus some other team; long, long ago.

I love teams actually having some sort of geographical hold on their supporters, and Geelong probably do that better than any other team, closely followed by Port Adelaide and Fremantle.

out of Hill,Suban,Clarke,Bucovaz,Walters,Ruffles and Hall who will play the most games in 2009?

You didn't include Ballantyne because you expect him to play most, if not every, games? That would be correct.
Out of the others, I think Suban followed by Bucovaz and Walters.

yer ballantyne is certain to be in 22 well you would think so anyway most weeks other than that hill play most i rec followed by suban and walters the others may get a couple

I forgot to mention Ballantyne in my orignal post, but I would think he'll play every game as he is theoretically ready to roll...
In a way becasue he's a mature age pick, and the current Sandover medalist he should be ready to play immediately from round one.

A lot of us seem to think that Ballantyne is going to be a walk up start in the best 22. And to think that I would only have taken him at pick 100 and something. Time will tell I suppose. But there's nothing better than unearthing a champion from an unexpected quarter.

I've seen posts of yours on the Essendon forum dissing Freo for selecting Ballantyne and Hill, and making it pretty clear you follow Essendon.

You are just a troll in disguise.

I think Ballantyne is getting undue criticism from everywhere. He has won a Sandover Medal last year playing for Peel. Not many players could say that.

Suban will probably play the most games because he has mature body and we might need him in defence - 14 games
Walters - Heavily depends on how well Ballantyne goes with his form/injuries - 7 games
Hill - Similar to Hinkley last year ~ 5 to 7 games
All others might get a game or two but it all really depends on how well we travel with injuries, team form, ladder position etc.

Out of all 2008 draft picks Ballantyne would be an obvious choice and if he stays injury free I hope he will play all 22 games for us.

I must say I would like to see Hill given a chance to play reasonably early in the year. Some guys are just naturals on the big stage and look straight at home at the highest level. Not saying throw him in Rd 1 starting 18 but get him out there early and see how he looks. If he's not ready he's not ready.

Well thats the thing isn't it.
Some have decided he's worth pick 100 or something and some of us are willing to actually see how he turns out.
But opinions are like arseholes....

I hear you, but........he is just a kid (physically), and I don't think he will play many games in 09. It would be unreasonable to put pressure on the coaching staff "to give him a crack" before he is ready.

I must admit the thought of a number 3 pick waltzing out and killing it would be great, but it is not going to happen. Let him kill it in the WAFL for a while and consistently. If he can do that then bring him in. Players like Foster, Browne, Duffield, O'Brien, Hinkley need to be played, otherwise why have them on the list.

Saying that Suban looks ready to go, he appears able enough to take the big hits. There is always someone you have to drop though.
