New Captain?

Seems we all are thinking there might be a Captaincy change for 08. We're probably all wrong though as it appeared TW was happy with Johnson's year.

BUT, if there is to be a change, who would you prefer?

Just throwing it out there but what about Polak? We have always had mids as captains. Maybe follow Geelongs lead and get a key position who leads by example. Polak showed that this season.

I think Richo deserves after his great 2007 and magnificent overall career. A fitting way for the big man to go out.

If not Richo, my vote would go to either Chris Newman or Will Thursfield, who both have great leadership attributes.

It should not be Richo. He's not a leader or a team player. He has been a great player for Richmond, but i don't think making him captian is the way to go.

would definetly have to go with Newman, goes about his business and has awsome leadership skills he is also young but not too young (if that makes much sense lol)

Definately Foley or Tuck, both Tuff both will be in the team for years and both lead from the front. Newman out of those listed. My darkhorse would be Browny that would set him up for a very big year. I've got no probs with Johnson off the back flank though. We are travelling superbly at the moment and will have a fantastic year.

Probably give it to Brown, none of the younger guys are really demanding the captaincy yet IMHO

I chose Joel Bowden.

In all, I dont think Newman, Deledio should be given it just yet as they are still young, sure they may have good leadership qualities but in all they are still young and you dont really need to put more pressure on them just yet.

Yeah make Richo skipper so you can have 18 players drop there heads when things dont go there way. Not to mention the pointing of fingures and yelling at teammates.

Surely Richo is not the player you want to be setting an example for the younger guys?

Keep it with Johnson for a year or two more and if Foley continues on what he did last year i would make hime skipper. From what i saw last year he was pretty much the leader already and lifted the team more than anyone else.

It will beinteresting to see if he can continue on that form.

Why do you think it is that the best player you have had for the last 10 years has never been captain? Yet you want to come out with the Lloyd call.......lool

I gave Browny the nod.
It's time for a change to take us to the next level. Brown is a proven media performer and after a couple of real stiff years would be absolutely champing at the bit to play hard & succeed. I believe people underestimate his ability to lead.
Would be a good transition for say 2 years before #41 or Lids are ready to take over.
Joel & Richo I think have been around for too long and would serve us better as experienced players concentrating on thier last couple of years.

Richo man for captain its the least he deserves, for all the crap times his had to put with, anyway its not going to hurt atm cause no other young player should b put in such burden and needs to play betta footy, except for foley who u could put a case up for but would like to see him back up his brilliant yr last yr with another one b4 we consider him as captain. While thrusty doesnt look like captain material for mine. While browny needs a proper year and get back to playin his best footy b4 we put the pressure on him as captain.
