S&C you would argue isnt top shelf. Where is this so-called collaboration with the Sports Science Medico's at Murdoch\Curtin? Werent they supposed to be housed at Cockburn?

A huge help for s&c would be not recruiting the likes of Bennel, Hogan, Gumbleton, Valente or extending contracts to Sandilands and Ballantyne.

Valente is yet to be proven. But yes to the remainder. Also thats says more about our recklessness to find a messiah in the case of the others.

A more realistic stat may be one that reflected injuries incurred and recovery at the club, and omitting those we have brought in held together by bandaids and twitching wire.

So if Walls is now list manager*, who is head of recruitment?

*Or whatever we want to call it so we can lawfully make Micellef redundant. Which is pretty weaselly btw: Just fire him and wear the consequences rather then trying to pretend we have actually restructured. Did they think really think that approach is going to protect their reputations??

You could also look at it the other way. We "restructured" so Micallef could save some face -> "It's not you, it's us". Organisations can't get away with the "restructure" excuse to force redundancies these days - especially ones with a high public profile like AFL clubs. My guess is they would have come to a mutually agreeable arrangement with him -> paid him out. There is no way they'd be dumb enough to risk an unfair dismissal claim? Well let's hope not.

Two ways to look at it.

Micellef doesn’t have the sacking over his name.

Most of the time it’s pretty weak as you said.

Walls now does both - Head of Player Personnel, overseeing recruitment and retainment.

That can't be true unless both positions were previously 50% FTE (or it turns out head of recruiting literally was just bag carrying during trade week), which is obviously absurd. Someone has to be doing the actual work.

I'd say Micallef was rooted out of a job but that's life sometimes.

It is, but pretty poor to move him across the country then ditch him after a year.

Reflects poorly on staff recruitment, though hopefully with the new CEO it’s no longer an issue.

Hopefully he picks up something around the league again and grows from this.

Bell apparently wanted the dude from Adelaide and Rosich chose Micallef?
Pretty sure the story was that Bell tapped up the Adelaide guy after Micallef was appointed. I.E. behind his back.

Whether Micallef was a Rosich captains call is hard to say. The fact it's doing the rounds now to me suggests it's as likely arse covering scapegoating of someone gone as true.

None of this means it is the wrong decision to get rid of him though. It's possible for there to be nasty politics involved AND for him to be not up to the job, but no-one comes out of this looking good.

Mate, you missed the point. Rosich and Lyon are gone, so they are to blame for everything ;)
