New CEO, New List Manager

This surprises me to a point of non believing. Their would be a succession plan for Nisbett. Who’s the COO at Eagles?
Sometimes organisations look outside if they feel change or fresh ideas are needed. We have a COO who has applied but we have still gone through the process. It's yet to be seen whether we bring through from within or bring in from outside.

Don’t disagree. My exposure to corporate structures and succession planning is that Nisbett has a successor at the Eagles prior to him signing on another 2 years. Assuming this person would be Disappointed not to have been appointed and would still be there.

Bringing from outside is unequivocally a better option, WA based and potential heir to the largest and most successful WA AFL club would be a realistic and astute choice imo.

Just pointing out that This worked out pretty well from a financial club perspective so shouldn’t discount.

Are you saying it was a good thing or bad?

A little bit from column a, a little bit from column b. Iiked his commercial acumen, disliked his influence on the football dept for the last couple of years.

I'd rather we go down a different path this time than trying to poach from our neighbours and be WCE lite.

6PR this morning fielded rumours that Todd Curley will be returning to Freo as an assisstant coach in 2020 and that the new CEO will be Gavin Taylor from the WAFC.
If either of these are true - it's incredibly underwhelming.

A WAFL coach and a Stadium Manager.

Surely FFC can do better.

Not totally against having Todd Curley back. But Gavin Taylor as CEO would be seriously underwhelming.

Who says you can't have fresh ideas and a fresh perspective from inside the organisation? People don't stop thinking for themselves and forever expel all their creative juices just because they're fulfilling a role for a time. With the right internal applicant, you also get additional insight gained from knowledge and experience within the organisation.

Going outside often becomes a default position of organisations, maybe not always for the greatest of reasons, an example being overly drawn by the prospective allure of the shiny and new. There can be the risk of a cookie-cutter selection process where they essentially look for the same ingredients in a different container.

The Todd Curley appt would have some links to Justin Longmuir. Justin did some part time coaching down at West Perth in 2008 straight after he retired in Todd’s last year at West Perth. Todd then started as an assistant at Freo and they both would have coached at Freo together in 2010.

Yep agree.
Todd’s done quite well with Souths and could well be a premiership coach if not for $ubi.

As for Gavin Taylor yeah * the WAFC sideways.
Let’s never forget they were probably the biggest single reason (amongst others )the clubs set up and ensuring earlier years were an absolute unprofessional farce.

That organisation is the epitome of a boys club.
A boys club that still heavily favours its favourite child(wc)

I’d like freo to be as seperate an entity from that most self entitled bunch of flogs as possible

Was Gavin Taylor the guy from the WAFC on ABC Sports Talk a couple of weeks ago? When asked about what the WAFC could do about the inequality that exists in the WAFL he rambled on about club zones and salary cap adjustment. Sounded a right dill. Duffield and co rightly poured scorn on these suggestions as solutions to the problem.

The WAFC own the FFC.

Then the AFL made them take in the young person from the street they didn't want to, so they didn't spend money on them, barely got them by and now expect them to pay their share of the rent without causing too much trouble for the favourite child who has had the golden run.

They never wanted Fremantle. They had the whole market cornered with West Coast already. Now they have to spend twice the money to make 170% of the money.

Pretty sure Todd only left Freo because he needed more time to spend with his young family.

I got the feeling that he either wasn't wanted by Lyon or he no longer wanted to be at the club. He resigned and then went and worked FIFO. I wouldn't know but if you want more time with the family you wouldn't go FIFO would you?
