nah mate ur bagging the fact at the bendigo players arnt up 2 vfl standard but they are playing on afl players which is there job. anyways i would worry if i was an essendon supporter i would back knights!

u were comparing afl players VFL players
The majority of the Bendigo based players aren't up to the standard.

Those training out of Essendon are good, there are a couple more up in Bendigo, but the depth is minimal.

Pull your head in, I'm not bagging these blokes, they just aren't good enough.

If Essendon Hired Guy McKenna as coach...

If Essendon misses out on Bomber Thompson, which is a good chance, and hires Guy McKenna, would that help land Judd to Windy Hill?

I think the Bombers biggest disadvantage right now is we have no head coach, and while I think McKenna is probably the best prospect out there, I'm wondering if the Eagles ties would give us better odds.

I dont know if McKenna and Judd have any prior relationship or not, but maybe someone does know.

Sorry I don't have a link atm, but did anyone see the small paragraph in the Age on the weekend about Bomber? It said that Bomber had told the Geelong players that he didn't see himself as a career coach and that he would NOT be leaving Geelong - and would seek a position in the business world when he was done coaching them.

He comes across to me as an honest sort of a fellow, so after reading this I'm feeling very doubtful that he'll be coming to Essendon any time soon.

Something along those lines was mentioned on Footy Classified last night. So if thats the case (if he sticks to his word) it would seem that he'd probably sign one more contract with the Cats after this one (maybe 3 years) which would probably take him to the end of the current cycle. The playing group he's got now you'd think would have a chance over the next few years to do something if they can keep their current form up.

But how is this possible if sooo many people on here reckon they know he'll definately be at Essendon next year? Is Bomber lying to the playing group or are we dealing with a group of dills on here? I take answer 2 thanks.

I think the fact that so many people "know" that Bomber is going to be the next coach is fuelled by their faith in our club do something big and worthy of the Essendon Football Club and not hire an untried and unproven assistant like dean bailey or a coach that solidified his position at the club by showing how well he can lose games (but put up an entertaining and honorable fight till the end ).

I too am hopeful that they have something big up their sleeve... I'm getting a bit worried though.

Lloyd on the radio said we are down to 3 coaches: Knights, Hardwick who are both "strong chances" and someone else who the commentators thought was Bomber THompson. Lloyd said a lot about a young coach.

judd comes complimentary if sumich is our coach.

if we can say to judd,"your coach will be your midfield coach from west coast" i reckon he is as good as ours.

If Thompson has no interest in leaving Geelong it would be nice if he actually told the world that, we could actually get on with our selection process.

In my opinion he is screwing with both clubs by being silent on the issue.

he is silent towards the media. essendon would already know whether or not we have a chance in nabbing him. do you think the board is just going to say, "lets just wait and see what bomber does...."

no, bomber would have told us whether or not he will leave and my guess is the answer is no he won't. thus, we have cut our shortlist down to hardwick, knights and sumich.

the first 2 our two raw IMO, so i reckon if bomber has said piss off, we will have sumich as our new coach, hopefully bringing a midfielder or two from his old club

There's so many theories flying around about this at the minute. From a Geelong fans perspective it's very, very frustrating. I'm primarily concerned with us winning the big one this year but would also like to know that we've got our coach sorted as well.
It doesn't really bother me. I would only be upset after this long wait just to appoint Neale Daniher.

If Bomber Thompson was not an option then we would have announced our coach already......
Bingo. You can bet your bottom dollar Essendon arent hanging around waiting to see if by chance Bomber is interested.

When you stand back, remove the smokescreens and mirrors, he has to be the favourite for the Essendon job right now. No two ways about it.
