Keep the fire extinguisher nearby!;) - looks like a great system though.

I think they sorted out the battery issues didn't they?

Hehe, I got the maximum 3 year Complete Cover Warranty.

I'm even covered if I drop it or spill coffee all over it.

Haha yeah they fixed that a while ago

Yeah just checked, they don't use Sony batteries in the 1420 range.

You can even customise the color of the systems now.

I got the white.

Wow, only ordered my laptop last Thursday and was told it would take at least 3 weeks.

But its already been built and is in the country awaiting delivery. Have booked delivery for Friday.

Great service Dell! :thumbsu:

Does anyone build their own computers? It's much cheaper getting the part from computer fairs and online then getting it as a whole down at your local PC store.

Yeah when i made mine i brought all the parts seperately, then the case and made it myself. Will do the same again when I decide to upgrade next. WAY cheaper, and more fun :D

Thats sweet as man!!!

This is a pic I took of my case, suits my name hey :D Since its my gaming name vipertooth.

The parts inside are almost a year if not more old so its pretty redundant in tech but still plays most games that are comming out atm smoothly, So I am not going to upgrade to i drasticly need too.

Nice rig vipertooth. I've got something similar but with 4 hdd's totalling 1.3 terabytes. Necessary if one was to download lot's of stuff, not that I do of course;)... disks are as cheap as chips. (You could set up a simple raid also.)

Yeah thats fair enough, I have never attempted to make a laptop but i expect it would be very nitpicky.

Would be impossible.

All the motherboard etc are customised for certain case types.

Even if you managed to source all the parts needed, it would be cheaper to buy a retail model.

hmmm true, laptop parts are so expensive comapred to norm comps parts, i think its cause they are made more compact? is that true?

Vague stats-
Intel Quad-core 2 processor
8800 Nvidia VGA
320 GB Kingston HDD
4 GB RAM
Wrapped in a black (silver trimmed) Centurion Cooler Master tower.
19" Asus LCD flat-screen.

Hey mate I purchased a similar setup to you just last week. Most of the parts I purchased were from WWW.MSY.COM.AU and had a mate build for me.

The parts were

Gigabyte P35-DS3P Motherboard
Quad 6600
ASUS 8800GTX
320 Meg Western Digital Ram
2GB Ram
22" Samsung 225BW Monitor
Thermaltake Armor Case
Thermaltake 850 Watt PSU
Logitech x-530 speakers (I recommend these to everyone!)

Might upgrade to 4GB of ram eventually but this is doing me fine for the time being.

Anyone using Vista?

I tried out a Beta of Vista before it was released and wasn't impressed.

Have therefore stuck with XP on my Desktop PC.

My Laptop is coming with Vista Home Premium though... so I am willing to give it another chance. The AERO Desktop thing looks pretty sexy.

I have Vista. Whether you like it or not really there's no choice because eventually you'll have to get it as most software will be designed for it.

I personally love it and believe it's a hell of a lot better then XP. It has a more modern feel (not that XP looks old but this is just newer) and it definitely looks sharper.

It has some nice little features that make it worth the extra $$.

Keeping well away from Vista at the moment.

But my computer is 5 years old I don't think it would handle it too well:D
