Sorry, I'm disappointed too but that's demonstrable nonsense. Both Lincoln McCarthy and Jordan Schroeder can play as small forwards who will rotate into midfield. One is a Liston medallist at 21 and the other earned a senior debut in his first half season at the club. They may turn into champions or they may turn into duds, but at some point you've got to suck it and see.

I'd rather give Burbury a go. Am surprised McCarthy is being retained in 2014 to be honest.
Seems like beating both grand finalists and being a goal away from a grand final didn't mean much to the club.
Ridiculous.
That's the only explanation I see (and hope for), too. Surely keeping at least one of Pods or Chapman for another year would have made sense, otherwise.
Scott Selwood still any chance?
In reality though, if the Hawks kicked straight, would have been a lot more of a difference
And if Fremantle kicked straight they would have won the GF....
Why? Was our most exciting prospect when playing in 2012.
Fair enough. I'd expect he's behind Burbury, Schroder and maybe Cowan for a senior spot. But who knows? Clearly this list management decision shows I'm out of touch with that the club thinks is best.
New direction: straight to the bottom of the ladder.
There is talk he met with GFC coaching staff this week.
Haha, classic.New direction: straight to the bottom of the ladder.
In what way? I can't possibly see how we're a flag threat in 2014 having lost so much experience. We have no reliable backup to Hawkins, and no evidence he'll ever get back to his best. We have no youngster ready to replace Chapman from round one. His position is the one where we lack up and comers.
Every time I see the title I keep reading it as "One Direction".
And that isn't really improving my mood any.
We are now even further away from a flag than 2013. Window officially closed.
ill back in the club and the younger players they have all seen a lot more of than us...
to use an analogy:
we are driving an old classic across australia. we can hammer it the whole way, and maybe get there early, or fall just short again. if we do this, the car is shot (brisbane '06 shot) and by then a lot of our current spare parts have been sold to other people.
or, we slow down a little, and maybe get a few new parts put in along the way. we might take a bit longer to get there, and there might be a period of adjustment while the old care gets used to the new parts, but when we do arrive the car will still be running almost (or as good) as we have been used to.
i prefer the second option.
The rumours just won't go away though. I feel we must have a biggish fish or two on the end of the line - with the clearing that's taken place.
Scooter?
I think you are right, something is going down that we are not privvy to. No doubt - intriguing though.
