What kind of question is that?

Go back one year and say the Bucs would win the SB and you’d be put in a mental hospital.

Things change quickly in sport
Well it does seem like we'll be down for a number of years as we rebuild, we have such a dearth of talent and QB is a huge question mark. Bills and Dolphins and even Jets look on the rise and stabilizing for a number of years too.

25 years is just ridiculous though. Josh Allen will be in the HOF by then.

3 years and we can be back if we hit he draft right

Im guessing he thinks 25 because after Belichick leaves there could be a run of bad coaching hires till they find a good one again. And/or Kraft passes on and a sh*t new owner emerges.

Lot of ifs and buts i know

OK GG.exe

Nice back handed trolling and kudos for that.

BUT

A few rebuttal points of my own that I would like to make.

1. Belichick has twice before either built or rebuilt a new team and each time they have won three Lombardi Trophies ..... so his track record over twenty two years or so is pretty good... now the more poignant question ???????? is HOW many years does he have left as a coach.
BB is a strange dude and how anyone could pretend to accurately second guess, whats going through his mind and / or how long he plans to keep coaching is fraught with danger.

2. Cant see the Patriots being sold by the Kraft Family in the near future, even if hand Job Bob passes on, as Jonathan Kraft seems pretty full on committed and engaged in the Patriots for a good decade or two, he is only 56 and given that his Father is still firing well at 79, history would suggest that Jonathan will be around for a while.

Oh by the way .
Not sure you can write we'll or we when discussing the Patriots until you add one of these :nflpatriots: to the ever growing collection of helmets in your signature. ;)

The Athletic's Jeff Howe said the Patriots "have had conversations regarding every potential [quarterback] trade target in the league."
Howe reports that head coach Bill Belichick and the New England organization are keen on upgrading at the QB position but "have so far been thwarted by inflated prices in an offseason that is currently siding with the sellers." The Patriots spoke to the Lions about acquiring Matthew Stafford and to the Eagles about trading for Carson Wentz, though the team was never considered a serious contender to land either quarterback. Howe mentioned Sam Darnold, Teddy Bridgewater, Marcus Mariota, and Jimmy Garoppolo as signal callers who could be pursued by Belichick in the coming weeks. The team is a decidedly unfavorable landing spot for incoming QBs unless and until they upgrade their skill position players -- some of the worst in the NFL. The Patriots haven't ruled out re-signing Cam Newton, whose season with the team could most charitably be described as forgettable. Howe said the team -- which holds the 15th pick in this spring's NFL Draft -- could trade up and take one of the top three or four QBs.

How much Cap space do the Patriots have? As Tampa Bay showed, things can be turned around quickly with the right decisions.

62 million.

But some of that will be needed to keep the likes of Andrews, Guy and some others.

So many holes to fill this won’t be fixed in one draft and trade period, it’s going to require a 3-4 year fix.

Trent Brown : Back - we traded our 2022 fifth round pick to the Raiders, for their 2022 seventh rounder.

Brown has renegotiated his contract to a one year deal on 11 million.

Thuney, wont be tagged again this year, he will seek FA offers elsewhere.

Wash Up:

OL will have lost Thuney.

But 2021-22 season should see the return of Cannon, Andrews and now Brown.

That allows Isaiah Wynn to be moved to OG to replace Thuney.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports Cam Newton's one-year contract with the Patriots includes $5 million in base value.
It's vastly different language from the initial report that stated Newton had re-signed for $14 million. He'll receive a $2 million signing bonus and $1.5 million in guaranteed money and per-game bonuses, but the remaining $9 million will have to be accrued via longshot incentives for the playoffs, Pro Bowl, All-Pro, MVP, Super Bowl MVP, etc. The Patriots still have the third-most cap space ($68.64 million) in the NFL and will likely look to address its offense with a majority of that number, quarterback included.

The Patriots have kicked off "The Legal Tampering Period" with these acquisitions:

TE - Jonnu Smith ( Titans ) 4 year 50 million.
LB - Matt Judon ( Baltimore ) 4 years 56 million.
DB - Jalen Mills ( Philadelphia ) 4 years 24 million.
DT - Davon Godchaux ( Dolphins ) 2 years 16 million.

Also nothing agreed to yet but the patriots are also trying to come to terms with Joe Thuney and are revisiting his contract with his agent.

While he hasn't come cheap I like the Jonnu Smith signing and at 26 years of age he has his best football ahead of him.
He is a complete TE, who is a deep threat and a dynamic play maker.
Judon is a very disruptive pass rusher, I like the move.

Bill has been up early, got the :moneybag::moneybag: and the🛒 and headed out and got himself some new ✍.

Add a couple of WRs in FA, trade up for a QB in the draft and call it a nice looking start to the offseason.

Extraordinary performance by Belichick to start Free Agency.
  1. Signs Jonnu Smith, our clear pass catching TE weapon and stout run blocker.
  2. Signs Nelson Algholor, our deep threat WR.
  3. Signs Kendrick Bourne, our intermediate slot WR.
  4. Signs Matt Judon, versatile LB with a disruptive pass rush and edge setting capabilities.
  5. Signs Davon Godchaux, space eating NT/DT.
  6. Signs Jalen Mills, versatile DB who can play S/CB hybrid role.
  7. Retains depth guys in Deatrich Wise and Carl Davis.
If this team gets even a mediocre season from Newton or the QB, they should be much improved.
