I'm half expecting to lose tomorrow's game. Brady will need to be at his absolute best with the receivers he'll have at his disposal. Jets always seem to bring something extra to Gillette Stadium as well.
Lose? It's more a matter of winning margin. Patrick Chung isn't around to make stupid on field decisions.

The Patriots were a whisker away from having 4 interceptions against Manuel. I fully expect Belichick and Patricia to bait Smith into poor throws and turnovers.

Exactly, defence will win it for us this week. Our D SHOULD be more than capable of making things difficult for GS and the jets o. Brady and who ever we have just has to not turn the bloody thing over.

Lucky to get out of that with a win but with no receivers what can you do.
That was tense and I was watching the match centre. Really need to find a good stream for these when I'm working.

So far pretty happy with choosing to be a Pats fan.

We can only get better from here too mate. Dobson and Tompkins just need more games and practice. Once they get in sync with TB they will be alright.

I know the Jets played a rookie QB today but with that much time in possession our D played well to keep them to 10 points.

Again we weren't impressive but yet another win in the division is crucial in securing a playoff berth so I'll take it. We won't be winning anything though without Gronk and Amendola.
I'd completely forgotten about Vereen. Screens and swings to Vereen would have destroyed the Jets today.

New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola will not undergo surgery for a sports hernia, according to media reports.
The Boston Herald and WBZ-TV in Boston, citing sources, reported Tuesday that Amendola's timeline for a return to action is now a few weeks. Fox Sports had previously reported that Amendola has torn adductor muscles in his hip, and that there was conflicting medical opinions on whether Amendola had a sports hernia.
Had Amendola undergone surgery for a sports hernia, he reportedly would have been sidelined for about a month.
Amendola initially injured his groin in a preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Aug. 16. He missed the Patriots' final two preseason games before aggravating the injury late in the second quarter of the Patriots' regular-season opener last Sunday.
Amendola played through the injury in the second half of the opener, making two clutch receptions on New England's game-winning drive and finishing with a team-high 10 catches for 104 yards against the Buffalo Bills. He missed Thursday's 13-10 win over the New York Jets.

The New England Patriots are becoming increasingly optimistic that tight end Rob Gronkowski, Tom Brady's most trustworthy receiver, will soon rejoin the huddle.
Gronkowski has been practicing for several weeks, and a source said there is a 50-50 chance that he makes his return to the lineup Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Although the Patriots have opened with two victories, Brady has been visibly frustrated after struggling with a supporting cast that includes three rookie wideouts and an undrafted rookie tight end.
With three top receiving targets missing last Thursday, Brady struggled throughout a 13-10 victory over the New York Jets, completing less than 50 percent of his passes and running an offense that converted just 4 of 18 third downs and had more punts (11) than first downs (9).
That could all change with Gronk, who is the NFL's most dominant red zone player. He missed the entire preseason and the first two regular-season games following offseason surgeries on his back and forearm.

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski on Wednesday said he has "progressed significantly since last week" but would not speculate on whether he will make his 2013 debut Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Gronkowski is making his way back from offseason surgeries on his forearm and back. On Tuesday, ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder reported there was a 50-50 chance that Gronkowski would play Sunday.

"So far there's really nothing new to report," Gronkowski said. "And I'm just day to day and progressing every week and I've progressed significantly since last week."
The 24-year-old said he is making "big-time" strides in his recovery and has been a regular on the practice field the last three weeks. He was listed as a limited participant in practice each of the past two weeks and was limited in Wednesday's session as well.
"I'm just improving every week, feeling good every week, and when everyone collaborates together and feels ready to go, that's when it'll be," Gronkowski said. "So far, I've just had a good day today, and I've got to look forward to tomorrow and what I can do to improve tomorrow."
The Patriots' offense could use a boost from Gronkowski, who totaled 39 touchdowns over the past three seasons. The team sputtered in Week 2 against the New York Jets, managing just nine first downs. Tom Brady targeted the tight end position just once last Thursday.

Brady said Wednesday he's not counting on Gronkowski's return until he's told by the team that it's happening.

The New England Patriots and starting right defensive end Rob Ninkovich on Sunday agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2016 season, a source told ESPN.com.
Ninkovich's agent, Craig Domann, confirmed the deal, tweeting that it includes $8.5 million guaranteed and total of more than $15 million.
Ninkovich, who has become a key cog since joining the Patriots in 2009, was playing in the final year of his current contract.
A three-down player who seldom comes off the field, the 29-year-old Ninkovich has totaled 14.5 sacks over the last two seasons, starting every game over that span. In addition to being one of the Patriots' top pass rushers, he is also considered a strong edge-setter in the running game and one of New England's most reliable players.
Ninkovich entered the NFL as a fifth-round draft choice of the New Orleans Saints in 2006. He joined the Patriots at the start of training camp in 2009 and was considered a longshot to earn a roster spot at the time, in part because he had been employed as a long snapper by the Saints at the time he was waived.
A knee injury in his rookie season stunted his development, but Ninkovich finally found his groove once joining the Patriots, elevating from backup and special teamer to front-line starter.

Was a great game today, competent defense that really has come a way from last year. There was a great 4th down stand early in the second half and very well played by all the db's today, really happy to see it. There was even some dandy pass rushing :thumbsu: Combine that with an offense that took the 10 days off to the house! Much better offensive play calling and execution compared to the game last Thursday. Brady still got sacked too much though. Overall, great building block going into ATL which is going to be in the dome against a team that lost to Miami today. AE cliff jump.

Inject Gronkowski, Amendola and Vereen into that line up and wow. That's a very balanced and explosive unit.

It'll be interesting to see how the defence handles Ryan, Dalton and Brees in successive weeks. I predicted 4-2 going through those matches. They all look winnable right now given the performance of the D.

Much, much, much improved on offense. I was despairing after the first 3 punts, but after that it started to click. If anything it was Brady that was a little off his game today. Thompkins looked good, and so did Dobson (although he still bobbles it a bit too much for my liking).

And defense was superb again.

The big games start next week though. Atlanta, Cincinnatti and New Orleans (who look like they're back). Would be very happy even to go 2-1.
