Mayo needs surgery and will be out for the year.
Losing Mayo 2 weeks after losing Wilfork is ridiclous, huge blows to our D.
I'm guessing McCourty steps up to take the captaincy and play-calling dutuies.
Hightower can move in and Collins will have to step up and start.

The annoying thing about this injury curse proper ******* the Patriots D is the Patriots D is finally a legitimate, potentially elite NFL unit. Inconceivable.

Haven't seen Dane Fletcher since 2011, but he's still on the roster.
I liked him before his injury, let's hope he can still play

Armon Armstead is eligible to start practising again this week.
He was projected to be the 3rd DT in rotation behind Kelly and Wilfork and the team have high hopes for him if he ever gets fit.

Yeah we finally build a defense and lose our top 2 most important players to long term injury along with others for a week or more. Really disappointing. Not sure how we are going to compete defensively, certainly not the way we have been now. Much like when the rain came in the Bengals game, some times its just not to be. 2013 overall is becoming that with these injuries. I cant remember being hit so bad by injury's over such a short period of time.

As long as Brady stays healthy the team is always a chance. Belichick always finds a way. That's advice I should have heeded in the 4th quarter against the Saints. ;)

People tend to forget just how patchwork the Super Bowl winning Patriots dynasty was at times. Troy Brown playing DB!

Gronk, Wilfork, Vereen, Slater, Talib, Mayo, Kelly, Adrian Wilson, Leon Washington, Dan Connolly, and Amendola

3 out of 5 captains, 10 out of the 11 were starters, with Vereen being the only 'backup' even though he was probably the MVP of the only game he played so far.
3 out of the best 4 D players, 3 out of the 4 most reliable Offensive weapons.
Thank god for Edelman

Talib is now not expected to play this weekend.
It'll be interesting to see whether they move Arrington back outside where he's had trouble in the past or move Devin back to corner.
I think Holmes is likely to miss, which means Dennard can take Hill and Ryan/Arrington goes to Gates who essentially doesn't need to be covered.

McCourty and Dennard play CB, Harmon replaces McCourty at FS, Gregory remains at SS and Arrington plays the slot. This also depends on what the Patriots plan on doing with Logan Ryan. For the most part, he was pretty bloody good against the Saints.

I know there's been a lot of conjecture at Patsfans about the selection of McCourty instead of Dez Bryant. I for one, am chuffed with McCourty's development. He is a very good corner and a bona fide star at the Safety position. He has arguably been the best FS in the NFL this season.

^ Oh god I hate that thread ill take McCourty every time....and what I would give for a troy brown right about now. Yeah the SB teams weren't world all stars but they weren't this banged up either. Funny how TB wasn't even elite during the SB years. Defence and great plays by average guys all over those teams won those SB's, we had good coaches too. Golden days.

It's a crying shame that the Patriots don't have more picks to position themselves to grab Mike Evans (even in light of the need to improve on the lines). He is something else.
