Now, there is a QB to get excited about. Mind you, Jameis Winston looks like a demigod out there.

Do we think we should take a QB early in the next couple of years similar to what Green Bay did with Rodgers? Guys like David Fales, Aaron Murray, AJ McCarron, Derek Carr will all be available around our #1 pick this year.

Not this season. If the Patriots take a QB this year, their rookie deal with run out as Brady's contract expires meaning both will hit Free Agency at the same time. If you're grooming a replacement, you probably don't want to run that risk. Now, all that said, if one is available (aka a Rodgers scenario) then I can see Belichick taking him.

Well that was disappointing. At half time you would've thought we were going to go on with it, but offense just stopped producing (and like the Bengals game, the Jets D was very good).

The penalty call on the FG was a head-scratcher. Hell of a time for the Refs to remember the rule.

I got flashbacks to 2011 with our defense. We missed Talib and Mayo.

Was happy to see Gronk out there again. His first couple of touches were the Gronk of old, but then he got a bit rusty. Still he looked promising.

Big game against the Dolphins next week. The AFC East isn't going to be a lock for us this season so we need to keep at least a game clear on top.

I think we would be very happy with a division win. That is a victory in itself given the circumstances.Loads of issues all over the place. Brady was locking on Gronk big time today and throwing was off. Incorrect routes, dropped catches, O line couldn't contain the pressure. Our D did the best they could, but man it isn't pretty.Going to be a slog all year now. Will improve, but not enough to match the best teams.

I know I don't post around here much, but I watch every Pats game and have for a few years now.

Just finished watching this week's game and can somebody please explain that stupid ruling that cost the Pats the game? From what I gather, it's to stop a player lining up behind (from a 2nd line or LB position, and pushing a player through the defensive line) - surely on a punt/kick play that rule should be put away when the defensive is basically in a solid line slides around and try's to scramble through which is all that Jones seemed to be doing.

I don't know, stupid way to end a bit of a frustrating game - was it the right call? I'm struggling to be objective I know, but it just seemed an incorrect call in the context of the play.

It's a relatively recent rule change, came into place at the start of the year. It was called as per the rule (ie no push from behind at all, despite where the player is lined up).

Jones was pushing the player from behind, and believe he admitted it. Belichick's answer in the press conference suggests that's what the player was doing as well.

Yeah, did a bit of reading on the internet and seems like they're not claiming the call was incorrect on a technical sense, but a few commentators about the place aren't happy with the interpretation or the call on the day - even non Pats fans, and I agree with them.

In the end of the day the Patriots stunk it up for good periods and hardly deserved it. So as a NE fan I'll live with the loss - Adds a bit of interest for the division that they lost too. But gees I hope they can get that defensive side sorted out in the next few weeks or it's going to be a long season.

Sounds like Amendola will be playing.

New England Patriots receiver Danny Amendola, who sustained a concussion Oct. 13 against the New Orleans Saints that knocked him out of the game and kept him on the sidelines the next week as well, said Friday he is "feeling good and ready to go" for Sunday's home game against the Miami Dolphins.
While stopping short of saying he will definitely play -- that's a decision ultimately made by coach Bill Belichick -- Amendola has gone through the NFL's protocol for concussions with tests administered initially by team doctors and later by independent doctors. He has passed them all.

"I've done pretty much everything they've asked me to do. I'm healthy and I'm ready to play," Amendola said, adding that the tests are both "physical and mental."
"I'm sure it's the same thing if you get [in] a car accident. It's all independent doctors. The NFL does a great job of helping guys out with that sort of thing. It's been a big deal in the past three years; you just have to go through [the process] and listen to what they're telling you."
Amendola has been limited in practices this week, according to the team's official participation report. But he said Friday he feels he's "had a good week" of practice, while revealing that the concussion was the second he's sustained since entering the NFL in 2008.

The Patriots have acquired Isaac Sopoaga and a 6th Round Pick (2014) from the Philadelphia Eagles for a 5th Round Pick (2014). Sopoaga has been a beast against the run for the 49ers before signing with the Eagles as a Free Agent.

This is a great move to shore up the Defensive Tackle position and will help replace the role of early down run stuffer for the Patriots. This is a further example of the shrewd modus operandi of Bill Belichick and Nick Caserio.

The rotation along the Defensive Line looks markedly stronger with the additions of Sopoaga and Andre Carter in recent weeks. Now, if Armstead is as good as advertised then look out.
Honestly amazed at how the coaching staff have handled the mess this year. Really, really impressive. Maybe one of the best years I can remember, up there with 08, but probably better..These are the years I truly appreciate having our front office. It proves our depth and our ability to plug holes with used parts to a productive end.
