They likely have no idea about the 'when and what', as even the club is unsure on that, with the final funding still to be committed, but the 'where' is fait accopli.

You fudging/typo-ing your French Skoobs?
Just dropped 'fait accompli' into Google Maps and not sure members/supporters/players are going to be happy when this goes public! :shoutyoldman:

Well if they don't know then I reckon the club is a disgrace. Got blokes on the payroll that won't have a clue about their future work location... no way that would happen in the general publics workplace.
It would be a year or more into the future before any move happens, most workplaces operate in the same way. The players would be aware they are likely moving but the exact details haven't been finalised. Not sure you'd call that a disgrace at all.

Yep.

In my workplace we knew 8 months out that we were moving but there'd been subtle talk of a relocation for years

At my wife's current workplace there is quite a bit of talk that they are really struggling and likely to close down. But they havent been told anything by the employer at all.
It has even been in the media and everything.
Not great signs.

I’ve been talking about moving my business for about 3 years.
Thats about the same time this concept project started as well. Maybe the players dont know anything about the move because at the moment, there is no move. I guess its not worth telling players anything more about it until funding is received and they can actually break ground & get started. In the meantime, its Coorparoo, Yeronga, Gabba & anywhere else that has a facility they can use at the time.:(

I was certain that the move was already underway with next years preseason being the first at Springfield. They have already started works and the only funding yet to be secured is the lights and stadium which would be cheaper to get done in this phase. Correct me if I’m wrong but there is no doubt about the facility being in Springfield.

Hey Hornet 1. I dont believe that is the case but would be Ok if you are right & I am wrong. As far as I have been told recently by several players & 1 official, Springfield isnt going ahead period unless more funding is raised. I would appreciate it if you could share where you got that information from as I have seen nothing official nor from anyone with credibility to say that its still moving forward despite lack of funding.

The whole squad was briefed in-depth on the current status of Springfield while in Launceston for the training camp late last year. They all know what is happening and are kept up to date regularly.

We are continuing to work with the government towards securing the final funding. The target is still to have Springfield completed in time for the 2020 AFLW season.

I guess the big bone of contention here is, what if the last $30 million (dependent on the State Gov'$15m) isn't forthcoming? Everyone is pretty much aware of what we hope for in regard to that funding, where it's at and what it will buy, but is the contingency plan? Will we forge ahead with a men's training and admin base without the bells and whistles.

*I understand this might not be able to be answered due to not wanting to publicly water down the 'need'for that funding, but that is the current concern.

Yep...I feel for her....went through that at Masters Hardware.. The staff were told by Woolworths management that things were ok and they weren't going to be closing the doors..We were told it was scaremongering by media and Wesfarmers...I remember site visits by senior Woolworth's management, their chest beating at huddles when asked and their response would be how they had successfully purchased struggling companies in the past and deployed those staff into Woolworth ventures...The message was these sort of hardware ventures took time to develop and they weren't going to walk away ....What they didn't say the reason that they were able to acquire those struggling companies was due to the bad business decisions by that particular business senior management..and where did the senior management from those takeovers get deployed to?....Their flagship...Masters...And it was just one major blunder after another. It started with the decision to get their partner, American based Lowes, to do their purchasing....The idea was to do bulk orders getting better prices and shipping from one central point.. passing on the savings to the customer.... They overlooked obvious logistic problems that the markets are different and have very different codes and standards ..America has 110-volt system ours is 240 volt...America had gone back to an imperial measurement on the nuts and bolts, there are 2 different metric thread systems... European and American metric .. America's seasons are opposite ours So recreational/garden stock (bbq's) sat as top stock for the 1st 6months +...purchased and paid for ....A monumental F... up that it never recovered from.

I thought I had read an article during the election from Greg Swann which said they had already begun clearing the site and the works would be commencing. He also said that they could continue the works and if the extra funding could be secured in the next budget announcements (mid year) then the plan would be able to progress fully, otherwise the lights and stadium etc would have to be finished at a later date with a higher cost. He also said something about 2018 draftees not having to worry about travelling to different ovals for training, I took that as the oval would be ready to run on at the end of this year.

I’m not up there so I’m definitely not in the “know”, so I’m happy to be put back in my box by people who are.

This is also my vague recollection.

I remember Swanny saying that preliminary works have begun ie. Design stage - moving past just a concept, but they were waiting to find out about funding before designing the full building so they know what they can and can't build.
Not sure if any Earthworks have begun but other than clearing the block, there is not too much else can be done until a full design is completed. And even if the block is cleared now and there is a bit of a wait on funding, the block will have to be cleared again before building works can commence, due to vegetation growing again. Therefore costing more money again.
Maybe the Government is waiting for the AFLW to begin again before we hear some sort of an announcement.

Maybe we can all help get this over the line - just found this. A couple of photos look very nice. Not sure if it is part of the more recent design or not.

Hey guys,

Please don't donate to that link. It's not the current project and we aren't sure when it was initially posted.

Thanks!

Many moons ago I was temping for a large Multi National that specialised in Tobacco but also dabbled in some food stuffs including Cheese. I was running the costing side of their operation and introduced some newer techniques which gave the boffins a bit more info a hell of a lot faster than they had been getting it. The plant was under constant threat of sale or closure. Word of my exploits spread quickly, and I was invited to facilities at numerous far flung dung heaps and offered a permanent position with perks etc. But my preference was to live by the sea, not the wastelands and so I stated my preference was to take a permanent possie at my current location - which I was assured would come up. The Management Team at my location were keen to use me as a pawn to find out what was really going on inside HQ and so I was sent down to discuss my career options with the big players. When confronted with the hard questions, senior management assured me the plant wasn't for sale and there would be a permanent job for me in due course. I quickly relayed the info back to the concerned masses that everything was ok and the status quo was being maintained.

The following Monday the sale of the plant was announced to all and sundry.

Technically they didn't lie, the plant wasn't for sale - it had already been sold!
