Can't see anything happening in the next few days. Especially if we're still publicly lobbying like this.
What's the backup plan if no party wants in prior to Saturday? Do we just hold on a few months and hope there's a govt announcement during the AFLW season itself potentially.

It's frustrating and angers me that if it were any other sport like NRL, netball or even soccer, the funding would be announced by both parties.

Obesity/ being overweight are massive drain on the public purse. Women's afl is engaging a whole new cohort in exercise and its associated benefits.

How is it that the half wits with the cheque book can't see that they need to pounce on this window to maintain momentum and get Australia healthy again . over simplified but the new stadium isn't just about two teams. It is about public health opportunities that need all possible leverage.

Because, by and large, they don't do things because it's the right thing to do or in the publics best interest. A lot of the time, they do things because it's the cheapest thing to do in regards to the budget. They only pull their finger out if the is a combined political and public will to do it.
Adani has more chance of getting their $1 billion dollar loan, than the Lions have of receiving government funding.
Not looking good. Don' think we'll hear anything before election. And whoever wins afterwards probably won' be that interested either.
Our best chance is to restart discussions with them next year once the politicians have sorted themselves out. It may take further compromise - e.g. AFL chipping in a bit more again.

Issue is so much money has gone into the commonwealth games, if this discussion was being finalized 2 years earlier the. Perhaps they could have sold this as a games venue then taken it over afterwards.
AFL simply have to get this up, they have pumped so much money into GWS and GC, each extra day it takes to get finalized, is a day the AFL look in my eyes like a laughing stock for not supporting them and dumping a club just down the road from them.
