If I was him I would want a completely fresh start. Having a number that constantly reminds him of being at the Bulldogs, where he was very unhappy, would be the last thing he should want or need.

Stats aren't everything swansfan. I suggest you go have a read about him: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gareth_John

While I can't recall watching him (live) I am a lover of history and have since watched some matches of his along with a good amount of reading on the clubs history etc. He was a super courageous player and was cruelled by injuries, some of which were life threatening. To say he's a "spud" is ridiculously insulting to the way he played the game and his mark on the game and our club. He showed the character and ethos our club personifies IMO.
