The point of contact with the pitch is never umpires call. They have gotten rid of umpires call from the pitching part of it. I don't really understand why but the impact can still be umpires call.

Impact with the pitch is essentially a fixed point and is much more accurate than impact with the pad.

The latter requires a lot more analysis because the pad is moving and is flexible - so its more of an impact area than a point.
