CNN seem to be calling very early compared to the other networks, things will become clearer with regards to NJ in an hour or so.

well apparently bush ppl are saying that they never expected much from NJ, which suggests to me that they think they have lost it.

It has been fairly solidly Democratic since 88, the only reason the Republicans thought they were in with a chance this time 'round was due to the 9/11 effect in that state.

CNN have Kerry on 52% in New Jersey.

I imagine the figure you quoted is a projection based on booths. Much the same as they do over here.

Actually its interesting. 48 states have a winner take all system. Maine and Nebraska give 2 college votes to the state winner and award 2 in the case of Maine and 3 in the case of Nebraska at a district level of winner take all. Colorado has put forward a referendum at this election to have the electoral college votes award proportional. The above case would give 8 to Bush and 7 to Kerry. Seems to be a recipe for argument unless all states adopt like methods.
The winner take all came up for criticism last time when some states were so close.
Kerry is in front at 1.pm Aedlst

New Jersey was never really much of a swing state.

Watch Kerry win Hawaii by 20 pts too later this evening.

Any particular reason? You'd think the Naval Base at Pearl would boost the Republican support.
Traditional Democrat state. Gore won it by a whopping margin.

It only falls to Republicans in landslides, which this election clearly isn't.

Funny set up isn't it. Under the winner take all method of 48 other states he would have had 4. How you call this a presidential election is mystifying.
I'm pretty sure he actually did get all 4 in the wash up?
