“The jumper number committee will get together and get to work at some stage to see what’s available and who wants want! There’s some good numbers up for grabs so we’ll see where it all lands, it’s an exciting time for all the new boys including the draftees when they come in - then we’ll see where it all sits.”

This will not be easy.

Clearly #1 will not be used.

Unless Billy Wilson is absolutely wedded to #35, it surely goes to Harry Dean who has reportedly worn it extensively in his junior career. (Suggest #15 and #30 may be available for Billy having some history with our departed)

Huge chance #11 and #20 get added, likely #38 and #45 as well as things sit. Might wait for an offering.

Keep #31 free for Bayley Fritsch in 2027 (will be a free agent at the end of next year).

Looks like we have a few numbers to fill.

1, 12, 14, 15, 20, 25, 30, 31, 38 & 39.

Number 1 put on hold for a year to hand over to Cody.

Seeing how Hayward and Florent are such close mates, it would be good to get them lockers close to each other. Either 14 & 15, 30 & 31 or 38 & 39.

Who gets the rest????

Harry Dean will get 15 nothing surer.
He's worn this number all year for the Murray Bushrangers and the player he admires most? Sam Docherty.
He has mentioned that he wants to wear his Dad's #35 and it wouldn't be surprising if Wilson wants to shift to a lower number anyway.

Thanks for this. I wondered which way Harry would go - see if he could have 35, or make another number his own. Personally, I reckon it would be great to see another 'Dean' in this number, but as is often said, the number on the back is not as important as the monogram on the front...

Billy was close with Charlie. I wonder if he takes 30. Also a chance Dean is happy with 15 since Doc was his favourite player. Has worn it in juniors.

Florent in 14 makes sense. +1 on his old number 13.

Hayward and Ainsworth could be 19 and/or 25. The carlton forward connection (Betts, Fev, Jezza), plus both Hayward and Ainsworth wore 9, so 19 is just adding a 1.

Could also see Hayward in 15 so locker beside Florent.

This is what I'd like to see, but it's probably unlikely:

1 - left vacant for Cody Walker
12 - Harry O'Farrell
14 - Liam Reidy
15 - Billy Wilson
19 - Lachie Dovaston
20 - Ben Ainsworth
22 - Campbell Chesser
25 - Jack Ison
30 - Ollie Florent
31 - Will Hayward
35 - Harry Dean
38 - left vacant for mid-season draft
39 - Ethan Phillips

It’s nice sentiment to wear your old man’s number but I want Cody to make another number special.

Or let the boy earn it. Would love to see it put on ice for a few years, not to be mistaken in retiring it, just shelve it until he is ready or someone else steps up and warrants it.

It’s just a number but it holds some weight historically.

Have we ever had a past number 1 leave the club??

Over complicating it. We dont do that with other important numbers. Why no.1?

Unnecessary to do that to Cody. Depriving him of his dads available number wont get him to work harder.
