Re: New Jumpers for 2011

Now I'm really annoyed with the Bombers.

I emailed the BomberShop and asked them whether they would have a clash jumper in 2011 and if they would stock it. This was their reply:

Hi J,
No, sorry, we wont be having a clash jumper in 2011.
Regards *****.

Maybe he meant the Bombershop won't be having one.
like they never stocked the large sash jumper.
Not sure the kid answering emails in the Bombershop is quite the best one to deal with football operation matters like whether the club will ignore an AFL directive and provide a Clash uniform.

I hope so. Whats so hard about making a jumper that is mostly grey or white?

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

I liked the channel 10 scoreboard from a few years back when they had the team logos behind the team name
I liked that too and they got rid of that about 8 rounds into the 2005 season. they have kept the same scoreboard since then. its getting a boring now having the same ones every year.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

whats up with Geelong continuously wearing there dark blue jumper???
St.Kilda once again had to wear there white jersey and with them playing essendon next week they will once again have to where the away (knowing essesndon wont have a clash) and depending on who they verse in the final (if they get there) they might only wear there intended pre season jersey once in the whole comp  all essendons fault imo hahahahahahahahahha :thumbsu:

Geelong would be promoting it to boost sales. And last night they were listed as the "home" team, as Essendon is next weekend. I think from Round 2 onward with the Vic-based teams they're working on a "higer ranked plays host" theory, based on the rankings at the end of Round 1. So they say "we're wearing navy" and the Saints have to avoid the clash.

No offence but your posts are hard to decipher. Just a tip - use grammar and correct formatting and we'll all be better for it. Cheers :thumbsu:

It's their pre-season jumper, and as hitthepost wearing it will boost its sales.
It's a nice jumper though. Although I'm not overly sure about if the cat should be there or not.

Long sentence is long.

Yeah, hitthepost does have marketability.

Agree with InCase, I am very marketable :D:p who are we selling me to/what are we selling me as? (not sure which question is more worrying...)
I like the cat face there tbh. For the last fair while Geelong have put their logo under the sponsor on the front...this looks more natural on there than the official crest, which they've put on the back above the numbers. A thoughtful dark guernsey. More subtle than the previous one, though it served its purpose and wasn't too bad on the eye either.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

The only slight gripe I have on Geelong's pre-season is the gradient on the white stripe, but it's a pretty minor one.
Just make the players keep their arms down and *da daaa* problem solved :p

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

You guys are so anti-gradient.
I think it works pretty well with this design.

Anyone who ever did Graphics in Year 10 or above gets taught you only use gradients to show depth of field, or realism.
Use of gradients in footy jumpers is neither.
The Geelong clash is a less worse version of it, but gradients like the White Brisbane, the Dog's Breakfast West Coast and current Hawthorn clash jumper are unneccessary and ridiculous.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

To be honest I'm with leeARM on this one. Usually gradients look horrible but on that particular Geelong design, they work.

They are a subtle way of keeping the jumper bluer without stopping the hoops suddenly and making them look like horizontal stripes. It's a really good clash jumper.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

Most people know my stance on gradients, and whilst yes, the gradients in Geelongs design isn't overbearing, it is however unnecesary.

On the original template the gradients work, it shows depth and makes it look like the stripes are starting to go around (gives the illusion of 3d). When on an actual person, that depth is already there due to the shape of their body - the gradient isn't needed.

I hope I made sense with that, kind of struggled expressing what I was thinking lol.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

Like I said, it's not a big gripe, it's just unnecessary IMO - you can still see where the gradient ends anyway, where the front and back panels meet on the sides. I'm not anti-gradient, they work in certain circumstances (just not this one).

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

I think the problem with keeping the white solid is that the white would then be visible from the side. With the gradient design, they've kept the look of a hoop while keeping the sides solid blue. The hoop remains the design feature while keeping the guernsey as dark as possible. Unlike most gradient designs the gradient here serves a purpose.
