Re: New Jumpers for 2011

I'm pretty sure that Brisbane will change back soon. Next year may even be a possibility. There's just far too much hate towards this jumper, it's split their fans and has poor on field success attached to it.

I have a feeling the club wouldn't want to be seen as going backwards though. On another note, unless something changes soon Voss is gone and it may even be mid-year.

Any changes to the North Melbourne guernsey this year? Looks alot cleaner

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

I know there is a thread for this somewhere but I couldn't be stuffed finding it.

I was just having a look on the North Adelaide website and found info about their Foxtel Cup guernsey. Almost a complete invert of their normal home and away guernsey with the Foxtel Cup logo, the SANFL logo and their major sponsor 'Mistral' on the guernsey.

They must have changed the rule on the whole sponsor thing although the logo does look tiny on the guernsey:

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

Most West Australians would think South Freo were in the comp.

FWIW, it actually looks good.

And to add my 2 bobs worth again, Gold Coast actually looked decent the other night. The jumper might be boring, but its simple and neat. If they had a better logo, people wouldn't be complaining as much.

Anyone seen any other clubs' strips for this? From what I've heard they're trying to make it that each club only needs one jumper for the comp (hence the Roosters were asked to wear their inverse)

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

i know you guys have been talking about ISC's increase in the marketplace this year with several teams taking them on, including GWS and as i just saw on the TV, Manly (any other NRL clubs)

But it got me thinking, how many new teams are they supplying, (as of this year and last year) and is there a new investor or new management behind this recent increase?. I know they where all over the cricket in the late 90's and other sports but they seemed to faded away in the 00's.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

All Teams should wear their home Jumpers, and their home shorts (normally dark) at Home and away with white shorts
however in the case of a clash the following conditions should apply
- The away team must wear an alternate jumper to avoid the clash

- Clashes occur when the two teams playing both have
a) dark jumpers (away team wears light strip)*
b) light jumpers (away team wears dark strip and Home team wears white shorts)
c) stripes (away team wears a strip with less stripes and be mostly dark or light- the opposite of the home team)

*Red is not a dark colour, Red does not clash with blue, black or white.
*Maroon is a dark colour, it clashes with red as well as Blue and Black

The best Jumper collingwood has worn to avoid clashing with north melbourne or geelong is the one from the start of 2000's with the magpie on the front.
One of the most sensible posts I've read on here!

AGREE!!! I've said a few bits about this but haven't managed to put it into words quite so well (anywhere NEAR as well) as this.
My only addition would be that I'd like to see coloured shorts (eg red, yellow) thrown in the mix. So when Adelaide plays Essendon (home or away), because they've both got dark-ish tops, make Adelaide wear yellow/gold shorts and Essendon red. Coupled with the "hoops" on the Crows and the sash on Essendon this should give enough differentiation. Similarly, Adelaide (red shorts) v Richmond (yellow) or Adelaide (red) v Collingwood (white...no point Adelaide wearing white shorts when Collingwood already has a fair bit of it)
But in essence, what Crozza said is fantastic! :D:D:D

but light coloured shorts are normally hidiously ugly, especially yellow and red

Personally I don't mind them :) I think on some uniforms they look better than white (eg Essendon. Plus on the "Essendon clash top" forum we're continually reminded that white isn't an Essendon colour:p)

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

Yeah it's horrible from a distance. Nearly as useless as the writing above the number - I've seen a few that say "Canberra" but I have a feeling that it's the player's home town.

Also the numbers on the back of the GWS guernsey are glossy - looks to be a quick stick-on job.

A few things from GWS:

- The writing above the number was indeed "Canberra", not the player's hometown, but sponsorship. GWS has a sponsorship deal with the ACT Government, similar to Tasmania and Hawthorn.

- I agree, the numbers sometimes lookes shiny on tv, but i didnt notice it at all at the ground, and they're definately not stick ons. Not sure what made them look like they did.

- For those who like the Saints-style GWS jumper, some mixed news. The club intended it as just a training jumper, and were surprised at the overwhelming response it received. There was talk of making their special jumper for all Canberra games similar to that, but they wont be deciding on that until next season.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

Few things from the games this week:

- What was with the blue on the Lions? Should have continued onto the front shoulders in the same pattern if it was necessary. Interesting to see the traditional Fitzroy lion where the "BBFFC" usually sits. Is this a permanent thing

With the map of Q'land on the front the blue shoulders could represent the recent floods overcoming the sunshine state haaa haa ha:( to soon sorry

Their colours are too similar to St.Kilda's to be copying their jumper in my opinion. The one they wore on the weekend looks heaps better anyway. If they want something traditional they should go for something else like hoops, a sash or a V although I don't exactly think it's good to just rip off other designs in the name of tradition.

I like the idea of hoops. Only the Crows and Geelong currently use them and they've got a bit of a rugby feel, which might prove popular in western Sydney.

Something like this would work a treat I reckon.

Having the orange on top and charcoal on the bottom also works in with the whole 'western sun, mountain ranges' explanation of the colour scheme.

Re: New Jumpers for 2011

Here's my go at a traditional away jumper for GWS.

I've downgraded orange to a trim colour as it works well for a few American sports teams.

That looks a bit too similar to Geelong IMO
