As I understand things the clash guernsey doesn't have to be white. However it does need to have the majority of it in a colour which the AFL deems to be a light colour.AFL won't allow it, must be predominantly white. I don't mind the new 'Murder of Crows' away strip though the blades at the back shouldn't fade like they do.
These Raptor Head guernseys look s*** IMO.
Removing a clash isn't as simple as "light" v "dark" and the AFL (finally) have realised this. It's about having contrasting colours to the team your facing. It's why you lot (finally) got a proper clash strip last year.As I understand things the clash guernsey doesn't have to be white. Um, no, it is about about 'Light' vs 'Dark'. I'd consider the shade of grey we wear to be light.Removing a clash isn't as simple as "light" v "dark" and the AFL (finally) have realised this. No matter if you wore the lightest grey that Adidas could manufacture, then you'd still clash with St Kilda's dark home kit. Why? Because you wear the same colours.Um, no, it is about about 'Light' vs 'Dark'. I'd consider the shade of grey we wear to be light.
Why? Because one team has a red diagonal stripe, and the other has a red horizontal stripe, the latter of which doesn't even extend to the back?No matter if you wore the lightest grey that Adidas could manufacture, then you'd still clash with St Kilda's dark home kit. Essendon and St Kilda both wear red and black. In order for for the clash to be removed, Essendon cannot simply make a light colour (red) the predominant colour of their guernsey, as it features heavily in St Kilda's as well. Essendon must introduce a new colour and make it the predominant colour, and that's what they've done, with grey. As I previously stated, this is not a simple case of light v dark, it's about having contrasting colours to the team you're facing. Why? In any case, you can blindly attempt to justify why you think Essendon don't need a clash jumper as much as you like, but it doesn't make you any less incorrect.
Um, I'm not justifying anything; I was one of the minority that was supportive of us getting a new clash. I'm just disputing your notion that it can be any colour regardless of shade. The colour they introduced was grey because it was a LIGHT colour. That's what I'm getting at. The primary colour on a clash guernsey must be light, it is the case with every single club.Essendon and St Kilda both wear red and black. Here's where the confusion lies. That's not what I said, although I can sort of understand how it could be interpreted that way. I meant that shade isn't necessarily the only factor in whether or not there is a clash, and that wearing contrasting colours can go a long way in removing it.I'm just disputing your notion that it can be any colour regardless of shade.
I say yes. Gold Coast wear all red and nobody considers that to "clash" with St Kilda. Sydney wear a lot of red and ditto.Could a Red guernsey fix this issue?
