I don't get the hate for the St. Kilda tri-panel. Most people on here like/prefer simple/traditional designs. Everybody loved Port going from the SBS jumper to the double chevron, or Fremantle from the anchor to the their triple chevron. People complain about clash jumpers with animal heads, gradients and tramp stamps.

Yet here is St. Kilda, with a traditional, simple design and all it does is get shit canned. Why is it any worse than Hawthorn/North/Collingwood's vertical stripes? I bet if they had have stuck with the cross jumper since 1997, and decided around now to change back to their traditional tri-panel, a vast majority of the posters on here would be applauding the club for making such a great decision.

lol

It just isn't great compared to the glorious clash strips of the last 6 years or the hot cross bun get up.

Don't mistake a snide remark for me deriding a traditional look btw
That's really a matter of personal opinion.

We've had some good looking jumpers in the past, but we've also had some utter shockers. The apron and it's distressed shield and the bright yellow version of the crusader spring to mind. Last years tuxedo style NZ guernsey wasn't that hot, either.

If "sucky" isn't derisive, what was it? It's hardly complimentary, is it?

How should "traditionally sucky" be taken then?

I was just playing on your use of the word 'traditional' when I was calling it sucky as a throwaway dig at a jumper I simply don't like.

'Traditionally sucky' not 'sucky because traditional' ah you know what just never mind.

The Tripanel is St Kilda tradition, we're the only club that does it well (looking at you West Coast), and it was the jumper worn during our only Premiership win so it'd be crazy to remove it completely, even when we had the Hot Cross bun it was still the away jumper when away jumper simply meant what you wore when you weren't the home team so it got the full 11/22 games back then.

It's dull now because it's too dark and grim with the black collars and sleeves which make the jumper look imbalanced. If the club decides to move back to the jumper below, we'll have one of the best kits in the league.

I have no problem with the St.K kit, but the white "stripe" in the middle of an otherwise dark guernsey creates the same problem/annoyance as the WCE tripanel, so I can see why people have a problem with it.

No, it really is ugly.
I don't reckon it's that bad ATM. The current template has improved it a fair bit, making it less of a mess with navy on both sides, rather than navy on one side, half navy half yellow wrapping around on the other. The no white outline on the numbers helps too.

It's still not a guernsey we should even be wearing, but it's better now than it has been.

1 more year, that's it!!!

No need to get defensive big fella, this isn't the bay.

St Kilda have a boring guernsey design. It's one of the more boring designs in the league. People who have no emotional attachment to it find it boring, especially in comparison with some of your clashes or the 90s cross home guernsey.

St Kilda fans obviously love it.

That's pretty much how footy works.
How can you possibly argue that the Saints have a boring design? simple/stark designs are what AFL football designs are built on. How is the st kilda design any different to black and white stripes? Or black with a red or yellow diagonal stripe?

It's a subjective issue. I'm sure not everyone feels the same way.

The bun will always be my favourite saints jumper. I reckon it looked awesome and we haven't got enough red dominating teams in the comp as it stands, and it would probably solve a couple of clash issues.

That's not to say I dislike the saints current jumper, I just think #thebunisbetter #bringbackthebun
