many instances where it looks brown to me....

......or does BLK use crap fabric?
Agree

It's faded looking black. Looks shit

I'm so depressed over having BLK make our stuff until 2017 (and they'll probably sign on again after that). It's a bit like the shit faded black Reebok did for port

The AFL wont allow Essendon to swap colours as red is 'dark'
If that's the case, I wonder why do Sydney and Gold Coast only need clash jumpers against a handful of teams.
Case in point.

The whole idea of 'light' and 'dark' jumpers is ridiculous. Red is not dark nor light. Royal blue is not dark nor light. The AFL should judge on a case by case basis to determine clashes.

Because of the combination of each teams colours. Essendon is a dark red because it sits with Black. Sydney and GC's red seems light because they are paired with White and bright Yellow respectively.

I played Ammos in the 80s
The thing with the Red being a Dark colour is just another example of the AFL making a bad rule, or at least, a half-arsed rule, then compounding it with further rules that apply to some clubs but not other because situations arise that they never thought of and have made the initial problem worse.
They should have just said to Essendon Red is a Dark colour, you're not having Red as the main colour. Or Black. Now, off you go, get adidas to make something.
Yes, the supporters would have been appalled, and I would have been one of them, but the Essendon management at the time were all for bringing in another revenue stream. It was only the supporters who were against it. And let's face it, they can read a few articles in the newspapers from the Communications Specialists and all of a sudden it's a great idea.

Actually pretty neutral
Yeah, I doubt that's a thing anymore.

The grey heritage is probably a way to stick to the red sash on black constitution garbage.
Except for the part where the constitution specifies that it also has to fall within the specifications of the competition in which it is being worn. So if they joined the SANFL who said "you must wear a pink guernsey" they'd either have to wear a pink guernsey or not play.

i guess what i am saying is i have kind of assumed for the last few years that essendon saying their silver jumper is a heritage strip is a kinda clever way of not 'bowing down' and having an outright clash jumper, like to appease their fans who want them wearing black and red. i was just surprised it's happening again in 2015 and wondered how much longer they'll pump out heritage jumpers, they should be special not every season i feel.
It is a clever way of not creating a "clash strip". Really they have one, they're just calling it something else and they can because of a small addition (names) but if it walks, swims and quacks like a duck, then we can fill in the blanks.
Each heritage jumper so far has gone for two seasons before the club great is replaced (John Coleman 2012-13 and Dick Reynolds 2014-15). I can't see this changing for the foreseeable future.
It's a good system. Covers the requirement to have a non-black jumper, creates a regular heritage guernsey, and with a new name every few years it'll still get good sales.
