I didn't know where to post these. I just seen them on the age website from earlier this year and had a laugh. They were proving that hawthorn have always had questionable designs.

Seeing that mockup, it probably means we'll wear it in games v North, Geelong and Sydney - games that we'd normally just wear full home kit.

If thats the case, despite how good it looks, there really isn't much point to it.

All I can hope is that people will think its awesome and demand it becomes our primary clash jumper.
The yellow kit may be pointless, but Jesus Christ I will be first in line to buy that fine-ass piece.

Found this today at Crowmania. Looks like no gold or white shorts for the yellow clash next year View attachment 188974
I know know the yellow is meant to be the clash strip, but does anyone get the impression that Adelaide will push it more as an away jumper, with the white strip there in case the yellow can't be used?

Seeing it with navy shorts in that layout gave me that impression. Not sure if its a crazy prospect or not.

Hope so -

I also hope the AFL becomes more pragmatic with 'white shorts away', and looks at the whole kit to determine clashes

Not based on this post by Dirty Bird.

I went into the club last week and even got a photo of the actual away Guernsey for next year (did lol at it having #11 on it)

But I got talking with a staff member about that and a few other things, but in regards to the Guernsey.

The yellow one was basically, 50% loved it, 50% hated it. There was next to no middle ground. So the club wanted to appeal to those that loved it by bringing it in but not frustrate those who hated it so they went with home, away, alternate.

So it'll be used in the pre-season and a few away games too. I'd put money on North and Geelong away games. But I doubt many others.

I said what I always wanted was
Home - home games
Home but red base - away (except vs teams with red bases)
Home but yellow base - away vs teams with red bases

But apparently Guernsey's need to be a block. The afl hate our home Guernsey because of it's design. It doesn't really have a base, now that I think about it, it is kinda unique.

Brisbane - Maroon
Carlton - Blue
Collingwood - Black
Essendon - Black
Fremantle - Purple
Geelong - White
Gold Coast - Red
Greater Western Sydney - Orange
Hawthorn - Yellow
Melbourne - Blue
North Melbourne - White
Port Adelaide - Black
Richmond - Black
St Kilda - Black
Sydney - Red
West Coast - Blue
Western Bulldogs - Blue

ours is a blue base, but it's not a large block, it's just tricolours. AFL hates it.

Apparently the AFL also desires all away kits to be white. Going with yellow was a push to get through AFL house!
Interesting about the solid colour take by the AFL. Still don't think AFL can have any credibility while they allow almost all vic teams to wear home jumpers against each other.

I know I'm not adding anything..

But the Suns jumper is so boring!
Could be a great one with their colours. Surely a rebranding in the next few years?
They need a new more traditional jumper and a new logo.

Fremantle and Port Adelaide both started out with more "modern" designs but quickly realised that keeping it simple is the way to go.

Why didn't Gold Coast and GWS learn from their mistakes?

Their home jumper has no patterns or gradients, it's basically a red Carlton jumper with side-panels. How much more traditional can you get? Regardless of the logo.

Just lacks imagination. Side panels and a boring logo? Yawn.
Freo and port are so popular because they actually look like "footy jumpers".
Simple designs with stripes, sashes, chevrons, yokes, Tri panel etc work the best.

Gold Coast either need a modern jumper and modern logo or traditional jumper and traditional logo.

Carlton's jumper works so well because their entire brand is traditional and simple from start to finish. Gold Coast's simple jumper goes hand in hand with a less-than-awesome modern logo with gradients and detail, and has to date been paired up with the wave jumpers (very modern design, lots of detail) and now this new monster. With their last clash jumper, they were making progress...but not any more.

I actually think it looks pretty good, but would prefer it without the massive logo.

I wonder what a home version would look like with shades of red replacing the shades of white?
My rushed attempt at it
