Head of marketing at Essendon tweeted that he's working on a new logo design.
Essendon Jets.

Normally I am supportive of the politically correct, resisting the newwcorp temptations to brand everything as nanny state, but if this happens I might get a little melodramatic.

If they want good PR go back to the clubs original nickname. hue hue hue.

They need a new more traditional jumper and a new logo.

Fremantle and Port Adelaide both started out with more "modern" designs but quickly realised that keeping it simple is the way to go.

Why didn't Gold Coast and GWS learn from their mistakes?
I think it's clubs like WC, which introduced a fresh design that worked from day one. Some day a club will come in with a fresh design that will just work, until then we're left with the "alpha testers" in GC and GWS.
Master Yoda, he speak like. But Jedi Master, he is not.

These droids, looking for, you're not.
Original, you are not ;)

Literally done in 5 minutes, so excuse the shittiness. Keeping the white, but sticking to the red and gold scheme.

**** me that is the most beautiful jumper I've ever seen. If Gold Coast don't bloody use this I hope Freo copy the design. Turn it purple and white and get rid of the Gold Coast logo.

Amazing job man.

Two years ago, I would've loved that news.

These days, and the Bombers logo has been around so long I can't imagine it changing. Especially since AFL re-branding is usually so bad.
There is scope for a new Essendon logo to be brilliant, but I'll agree with the afl clubs bringing in less than inspiring logos. The only new logo in recent years that has really hit the mark is geelongs secondary logo.

Apart from the Cats, which post Essendon logos have failed to hit the mark?

Since the bombers we've had only Collingwood, Sydney, St. Kilda and Port Adelaide not change their logos and I'd be pretty confident in saying they've become fairly strong easily recognisable logos in that time, so perhaps Essendon might be better off not changing their logo, especially in a time where they're struggling on the field and all the WADA/ASADA stuff hasn't exactly helped their off field image

Hawthorn's is a bit boring, Geelong's is good but it just looks like it was bashed out at the same time as the Hawks'... North's one is like a cheap and shitty version of those two. The Suns one... appalling, it's worse than NBL logos...

Basically every new emblem has sucked.

Exactly.

Adelaide's is atrocious, should have stuck with their old one.
Brisbane needed refreshing but just doesn't look right to me.
Hawthorn looks dull, along with north.
The Bulldogs new logo is a wasted opportunity, it doesn't look clean, it will be dated within three years.
Richmond is a pass but it's not fierce like its old one.
Freo is good in its simplicity but I have no idea why they would put a big D wrapped around it, I almost never hear anyone call them the dockers in general conversation, it's always freo.
Melbourne, individual aspects of the logo are great, chuck them all together and it's a dogs breakfast. Clever thinking by the marketing department to use the monogram in the apparel.

The anchor looks ridiculously flimsy on its own and I actually prefer it with the D. Having said that, Fremantle Football Club > Fremantle Dockers.
