Same article - scroll down and Debbie Lee talks about how they actually already redesigned sleeveless jumpers to have smaller arm holes, back in 2008.
That will teach me not to read an article.
But its interesting, I was under the influence that the women had pushed for the changed design.

That all said, I do agree with a comment in the article saying if they had started the men's comp from scratch would it be the same design?
I doubt it, personally - I would expect sleeves and more sponsors.

So, is it disrespectful or just using the opportunity to do something different and make it right from the get go?

I was just about to come in and post the Cats Cotton On thing too. I've been sitting on it for a few months now but didn't want to make a big deal out of it. Have cross confirmed with someone who was training in the VFL squad this year and heard the same thing. It makes sense, with Ford and Target leaving the area it's a good idea for a local, national company to align themselves with the local team. I wonder what logo they'll use under the neck.

Interesting move by cotton on, styling of gear is going to be very different to anything they have ever made and if they are outsourcing the woman's league jumpers, then their major selling item(footy jumper)is not even going to be their product.

Think this will play out like star with Collingwood, but being a local Geelong business I hope I am wrong.

I would expect you're right. Someone else will make the actual jumpers and sublimate Cotton On somewhere near the neck and everyone will assume Cotton On made them.
Same as when Piping Hot sponsored StKilda, though they were made by Sekem in Perth.

Why would another company make jumpers for another brand and not be known?

Was that the same with Skins in 2007?

What about with the quickly bust companies of Concept Sports and Covert Fashion, did they manufacture themselves or outsource? And if so, why the logo on the jock tag but not on the neck?

Concept Sports were in the same space as TPF who are Star Athletic.
I believe Concept were also involved with the putting together the showbags at the Royal Melbourne Show at one point.
They were a disaster from go to whoa.

Them, along with Covert, Skins etc all probably had someone else make the jumpers.
They just also had the contacts to make all the stuff people also buy, such as polos, t-shirts, tracksuits etc.
The owner of Covert, Marc Brenner today works in China as a local contact for Australian retailers.
So there's a good chance those jumpers were made in the Middle Kingdom

Most factories are not owned by the designer in apparel. They simply manufacture to the spec given to them.

Cotton On would be great with the Saints. It'd continue their naff manufacturer history but the colours of the new logo are St Kilda's colours. Along with Pepper, they would have the absolute perfect suite of logos on their strips. Even the AFL logo has a club colour!

Are ISC going to leave footy completely or what?

Fremantle have never had an ugly apparel partner but as shit as we're looking, we might too cop the BLK contract...

So what would the deal be with Cotton On?
A % goes back to the real manufacturer and it's all for exposure of the Cotton On brand, or they pay a chunk up front and keep the rest and hope to sell enough to be ahead at seasons end?

Compared to say Nike or Adidas

Adidas don't make theirs. Hot Sub do. They make lots of local jumpers, including my teams. They rebranded and their website is offline, so that means I can't link you to it unfortunately.

I'm interested to see what BLK purple would look like.

And logo does Hot Sub use? Do you have any images of the local jumpers?

Probably a nice lighter purple like how it started unlike the dark shade it's gone nowm

Lavender Haze
My cats favourite scent is lavender, I often see him outside sitting next to it smelling it.

Not that it matters, but not much news at the moment.
