Yeah this confirms it. The lighter yellow is a bit garish imo. How hard is it for Cotton On to get right?

I honestly don't think it's a mistake the crows aflw has always had more of a yellow on their jumpers compared to the gold of the mens jumpers

I played Ammos in the 80s
Cotton On makes the AFLW ones, where the official suppliers have made the AFL jumpers.
Cotton On seems to have not always been working with an official AFL palette since Day 1.
Melbourne, the Bulldogs & Adelaide have all worn lighter shades of some of their colours.

So is it official that in AFLW indigenous jumpers will be the away clash jumpers?

And if yes when does the mens follow suit as it seems like a good way to get the indigenous jumpers used more but not over used either.

Personally I think the indigenous jumpers have more impact when worn in/around Doug Nicholls Round. Right now in the BBL the indigenous designs are being overused.

It's overused in my opinion. Especially in this season's BBL. It used to be a special or unique occasion but now it's massively commercialised.

I'm not against the use of Indigenous jumpers as most designs are quite classy without being too cliche or obvious, although it would be nice to see some clubs move away from working the design around their club logo or monograms. Or, do what Brisbane did last season and making a Fitzroy indigenous jumper (well, two). Would love to see Sydney rock a South Melbourne inspired design for example.

I agree with the home and away concept over two rounds, each club makes a home and a clash/away version of their indigenous jumper. Then again on the flip side, do we then do the same with the ANZAC matches?

completely agree. Also , people will begin to care less and less about the significance of the jumpers if they just wear them every second round. It’s getting ridiculous

What's the alternative though? They're worn once or twice in Indigenous Round every year and people call it tokenistic and/or forget about Indigenous design for the other 11 months?

Aboriginal art should be seen as intrinsic to this country as 'conventional' art; I don't see why it can't be used even more frequently in sportswear. I'm not about to say that teams should incorporate Indigenous design into their home kits – that much is sacred – but using it in the oft-discarded clash kits gives the design a bit more reverence. I'm all for it.

I reckon they should be launched in indigenous round but then have them available as a clash option for the back half of the season, so you would see them a few more times. For example, crows would have a navy one to wear for indigenous round, but then have a yellow version that they can pick for the rest of the season when they don't need to wear the red clash jumper.

You'd get to see the jumper a handful of times to make it a normal part of the setup, but you also get to launch it in indigenous round and keep that feeling special.

I honestly think in the next 10 years indigenous jumpers & jerseys will be in high rotation within all our major sports.

They will become permanent clash or away jumpers.

I can see a new franchise (AFL or NRL) having an indigenous design as their main in the future.

I'm all for it

The AFLX team "Deadly" was an all-indigenous team which was a really neat concept, although i don't know how the logo or guernsey fitted into it.

I'm 100% for using the Indigenous guernseys more and more. The Indigenous round was a nice start to the concept, but I think the more people are exposed to Indigenous art, culture, customs, language, etc, the better, so now's the time to move them into wider use. It also helps they appear always look amazing, too, unlike Clash guernseys wish can be hit or miss.

As a semi related note to this, I dig how the AFLW fixtures each week are being released with the Traditional language groups of the land the stadium is on being listed. It's a little thing but I think it's another good thing to be exposed to, I hope they follow that (and maybe even build upon in it) in this coming AFL season.
