imo the new kicking in rule suit rule will probably suit us more than any other team in the competition. last years success in the wizard cup proved that to some extent.

pagan has shown that he has been pretty ordinary in formulating set plays and zones for both ours and the opposition's kick ins and it is one area of our game even when we did have moderate success in 2004 that really annoyed most supporters . we always seem to have no idea in this area we more often than not get slaughtered on kick ins.

hopefully as in the wizzie cup last year this new rule will benefit us.

We do struggle in the kick ins a lot and as Campo was one of our main options, we may struggle even more in 2006. A good rule as we rely on quick movement into the forward line. If Bryan can get a spot in the 22, it will help even more as the ball will be in the centre square while the flags are still being waved.

even with the rule changes we are still going to be dealng with zones. when a team has a set shot they will set up their zone while the shot is being taken, in case their player misses a goal.

he scores nothing lost as all have to run back to the middle
he misses players are ready for a zone

there won't be as many zones but it will still be part of the game

I thought Campo was half of our problem kicking in, he didn't have a clue.

9/10 went short to the pocket.

I still remember his kick-in against Essendon in 2004. He wasn't sure what to do, so he just dribbled out a few meters.

If we are going to use this quick movement from the goal square, rather than waiting for say Bryan or Stevens to run down there, it really should be the closest player. This could have it's obvious drawbacks if guys like Prenda are in the area, but if we are going to use the rule to our advantage, I see no other way of doing it.

Your guess is as good as mine but he definitely looks like he's on some muscle mass at least unlike Sporny.

Great that the club's gone down the path of drafting the best kids but that they also have to have leadeship qualities is great.

You can have your Chris Egan's but Russell does the one percenters as well as having express pace and skill.

There would be a "team rule", Prenda doesn't kick out in any circumstances at all.

Yeah the rule should suite us. We tend to regularly stuff up our kick ins.

I remember that, I think he might have tripped or something. I almost burst out laughing until Essendon scored from it. :p

I reckon this rule will have little to no impact. For most teams it will be a toss-up between getting a designated kicker the ball, and getting it in quickly. About the only advantage to going quickly would be if the other team is out of position; say a behind snapped from a boundary throw-in; or when a team is behind in a close game. Otherwise, most teams will slow it down anyway and try to set something up. The same has been seen in soccer - occasionally a quick throw from the side is advantageous, mostly its not

Stokesy, you should have added that the team rule is that Prenda plays out the final year of his contract with the Bullants.
