Who is the SOS at the Doggies? I like the way they’ve gone about it lately.
Dalrymple did the dogs list. Now at sydney
I think it will be Bain

Blair Hartley??
He’s not even that good. It was only recently he was throwing first and second rounders around for Yarran and Hampson, and picking Lennon ahead of Cripps.
Overrated list manager being made to look good from a freakishly good crop of elite players (all of whom went high in the draft) and great coaching.
He’s ‘nailed’ late picks lately because they’re coming into an elite system and being developed.
agree - what's with all these players that shat me to tears who end up being great in the media? lucas, roo, buckley, harvey, goddard, maxwell, lewis? well? Not bad. Player agent so has some idea of the system. Comes across pretty well on radio.
At a minimum you should punch yourself in the face.Adrian Dodoro.
Should I card myself now or wait a while?

Wells is the only one on par with SOS, but Geelong would never let him go, unless somehow we got Cain Liddle over there to screw up their club. What happened to wells.. is he available?

I think this is a good point. You can argue the toss about his success with late picks but (a) you’re only as good as your scouts and (b) it’s a mixed bag for everyone anyway.
But you can’t argue that he’s been aggressive and proactive in the way he’s accumulated picks and been willing to use the new rules. So far (and it’s admittedly early) he proven to be ahead of the game and gained us a clear advantage.
I often wonder where we’d be if someone else had come in and just taken a more traditional route to list building. We wouldn’t have Stocker. We wouldn’t have McKay and Curnow. If this comes off, it will be because SOS has been willing to back himself and use the rules to his advantage.
Ultimately, THATS what we risk losing...not his judgement on players.

Whoever we get we have to get behind him, keep the Silvagni shit separate. This i all the CEO and the boards doing so give it to them instead.
Interesting that Scott Clayton is back in the fold as NMFC’s new list manager.
Didn’t exactly set the GCFC up that well. Wonder if he’ll be back to his penchant for outside wingers/flankers, like the glory days at CFC when that was our thing too.
Good at least that SOS won’t be heading up their list management role (at this stage), as was rumoured.

Roo coup: Experienced recruiter to take over list direction
One of the game's most experienced recruiters is set to take control of North Melbourne's list directionwww.afl.com.au
Going to be a bit hard to get a good replacement given how SOS was treated and undermined
There'd have only been informal talks until last week, as recruiting contracts expire now.The question is, why hasn't this already been sorted out?
They've known they were sacking SOS for quite a while.

I've got no idea how some of these guys survive and thrive. I was shocked when he got a good gig at WC, and now he's got an even better gig at North.
I like North. One of my favorite "other" teams.
Can't quite comprehend this one.
Allow me to explain: he's not doing the talent ID this time. They'd likely escort him out the building if he started requesting the names of 17 general forwards for the list. How are **** are people still hiring Scott Clayton?

Probably true, but he must be kept for continuity. You do not uproot your list management team every few years if you intend to be a truly great great club and go forward into dynasties. A strategy was started and needs to be added to, not uprooted and some totally different thinking just dumped onto our club in this area. Lloyd and Agresta have to work very closely with whomever comes on board and explain to them what the strategy was, why and continue to add and regenerate the list to become clear number one in the league over coming years and then make the gap beyond other clubs even bigger.Agresta seems like a nice guy, and has a decent track record of talent ID, but there’s no way he’s someone I’d want haggling over draft picks or negotiating contracts with player managers.
His current role suits him, and he’s probably still a few years off being seriously considered for a more senior position.
I don’t believe this for a second.
The club will have their own version of events, and although there has clearly been some bad decisions made it’s not going to seriously jeopardise our ability to attract a decent candidate.
There would be plenty of people excited by the opportunity of managing the list we’ve assembled. It’s just a case of getting the right person for the job.
Can see Agresta having a bit more responsibility and Lloyd getting more involved, effectively sharing SOS's role.No List Manager is going to want to work under Liddle trying to recruit players behind your back, until Liddle is sacked and walked out that door all we are getting is a Bolton type appointment.
