How the fu** did the other clubs not pick Cripps before our selection. They must be rueing the decision now!

It's worse than that. The word shortly after the draft was that we were being laughed at by a few other clubs for a huge reach for a player who was predicted to go in the 30's.

Those people must feel like the audience members in Susan Boyle's BGT audition before she opened her mouth to sing... as one of the judges said after her audition - "Who's laughing now."

Just shows how difficult it is to nail picks.

It actually got worse under Rogers until 2014, unless talking about Cripps over and over is enough.

Everything was bad because of interference and the lack of parameters and as far as we say we've advanced, we still have the same issues.
How does this come about? Who allows it to come about?

Judds portfolio is Football and List Management - What did he do to stem the situation? Did he do anything at all?
MLG is the President and a very good friend of Silvagnis - He knew what was going on and would have heard both sides of the story, although he may have leaned towards one side more than another.
Which wise individual signed-off on the press release stating that the Silvagni boys were at 'central' to the demise of SOS?

Our ongoing issues don't lie with this employee or that one, as much as they do with the way this clubs conducts itself.
Any self-respecting candidate for this role should have many questions to ask about the club, even before they ask about the finer details of the role, itself.

I'm now interested in how our process to acquire a new LM is being handled.
Is it Liddle that's out there trying to find the 'best man' for the role? How's he going to handle the questions coming his way and why would anyone believe his version of events?
Who is looking for our new List Manager and how are they going to sell the notion that we're the club they should be coming to, without rubbishing SOS along the way.....and as if that won't leak? Do MLG and Judd then need to then ratify that appointment, presented to them via Liddle?
Messy, messy, messy.....unorganised, ill-disciplined, unprofessional and messy.

Nothing will change until we've been seen to have made real changes at the top. Just can't see it being business as usual, otherwise.

Rogers was plain old incompetent which is why he has the worst recruiting record in draft history. Kudos to the current executive for moving him on quickly, not so much for the handling of this recent departure though.

Rogers may have been incompetent but how does incompetence keep finding its way into our club?

Everyone that walks into this club isn't incompetent as much as they're made to look incompetent for a variety of reasons.
Right now Liddle is incompetent and SOS was incompetent enough for us to be where we currently are.

You have to ask yourself the questions; How does this keep happening? Why are we so incompetent?

No one has called SOS incompetent as his record stacks up well. Liddle has performed well at growing the business and membership sided of the business. This latest issue has been handled poorly, that's all. Hopefully it was just a bump in the road and not a sign of things to come.

No one? What exactly did Liddles actions represent?
I'm not sure what makes anyone think (or want to think) that a little change here and a little change there will fix things for good.

We're in desperate need of an engine change, but we bought a sunroof and a paint-job instead.
We look better from the outside and we'll fool some along the way, but this engine isn't giving us the drive we need.

I think Liddle and SOS was simply a case of 2 alpha males locking horns, 1 eventually has to go. Messy but reasonably isolated amongst a lot of positives since Teague took the reins.

I think you're right in the main but what were the trigger points?

SOS not providing Bolton what he wanted, or unable to provide?
SOS's inability, directly or not, to nail later draft picks and rookie picks?
SOS not being capable of relating situations to his superiors, subordinates and the coach?
SOPS just being who he is? We knew that beforehand and we shouldn't have been surprised.

It wasn't simply a case of ego but people being 'allowed' to step outside their roles into another.
Had there been proper protocols in place and administered, none of this would have happened.....the way it has.

There is no way the next list manager will be able to operate independently of Lloyd and Liddle.

That’s pretty much the whole reason they wanted to get rid of SOS isn’t it?

People could argue that the List Management role should be integrated more with the club, but I’m not one of those people.

It is however the only viable way forward because only someone with the connections, reputation and force of will of SOS could hope to resist the various forces that come into play at Carlton and in the end even he didn’t prevail.
