Everything was bad because of interference and the lack of parameters and as far as we say we've advanced, we still have the same issues.
How does this come about? Who allows it to come about?

Judds portfolio is Football and List Management - What did he do to stem the situation? Did he do anything at all?
MLG is the President and a very good friend of Silvagnis - He knew what was going on and would have heard both sides of the story, although he may have leaned towards one side more than another.
Which wise individual signed-off on the press release stating that the Silvagni boys were at 'central' to the demise of SOS?

Our ongoing issues don't lie with this employee or that one, as much as they do with the way this clubs conducts itself.
Any self-respecting candidate for this role should have many questions to ask about the club, even before they ask about the finer details of the role, itself.

I'm now interested in how our process to acquire a new LM is being handled.
Is it Liddle that's out there trying to find the 'best man' for the role? How's he going to handle the questions coming his way and why would anyone believe his version of events?
Who is looking for our new List Manager and how are they going to sell the notion that we're the club they should be coming to, without rubbishing SOS along the way.....and as if that won't leak? Do MLG and Judd then need to then ratify that appointment, presented to them via Liddle?
Messy, messy, messy.....unorganised, ill-disciplined, unprofessional and messy.

Nothing will change until we've been seen to have made real changes at the top. Just can't see it being business as usual, otherwise.

Sounds like a good q for the forum!! You won’t get anything else besides the club line of what actually happened but you will with a q like that

Whoever the new person is; the problem is the same.

Who has the final say regarding the list.

If we are going to turn our list into players that are signed according to anything other than strategy or ability...we are in trouble or will eventually be.

It seems like personal relationships have played a major part in the overulings.

Betts, Ellis and De Luca may have made or will make a positive contribution to our list but all were pursued against the strategy that would be in the best interests of the club imo.

SOS may be stubborn but has fallen on his sword making that point and should not have been made too.

There is no way the next list manager will be able to operate independently of Lloyd and Liddle.

That’s pretty much the whole reason they wanted to get rid of SOS isn’t it?

People could argue that the List Management role should be integrated more with the club, but I’m not one of those people.

It is however the only viable way forward because only someone with the connections, reputation and force of will of SOS could hope to resist the various forces that come into play at Carlton and in the end even he didn’t prevail.
and you know this how?

The idea that a CEO has ultimate decision making power for all aspects of an organisation is fanciful. He or she may have a veto but that is very different from jumping in and taking over a function. If the ceo is doing that, the functional head may as well resign.

It actually got worse under Rogers until 2014, unless talking about Cripps over and over is enough.
Yes, but via having got players of that age group later, like Martin as an example, the mistakes of those two extra years are now sorted on the age profile of our list.
The damage of 2009 to 2012 was too much to be able to fix everything. We've felt the full force of that period being ****ed up but with that age group being the 26 years and older in 2020, it is less of an issue each passing year into next decade as we will be building our team around the 19 to 26 year olds for our premiership contention in coming years. We still might be able to grab someone like a 27 year old free agent next off season to balance it even more but for most part, our list is as balanced as could hope for going into a new decade.

Becuase sos was a board appointment so he had more scope to implement the rebuild plan that was approved by the board. The new list manager will be appointed by Lloyd and Liddle, so there will be an expectation that the new appointee reports to them.

It just reeks to me of the club taking the easy way out.
SOS contract was up for renewal
The Richmond bloke probably has a few years to go. Too hard for the board to deal with.
As I said earlier...spineless.
J&BSOS likely collateral damage in a year or 2.
They probably attribute membership growth to the Richmond bloke, we can see through that.
We know membership growth as been on the back of the list that SOS has built.
We’ve been treated like fools.

SOS stated categorically on Footy Classified (in the presence of panel member C Judd) he did not report to the board, he reported to the Football Manager (then A McKay). He also stated he did not sit on MC meetings.

Personally I’m not too worried because I think there are plenty of capable people out there and if SOS has done his job as we expect he has then most of the pieces should already be put together.
If we have a poor season again next year then it was probably time for a shake up anyway.

I don't know about you, but I feel like the only person around here who isn't privy to every internal machination of our club. Everyone else seems to know exactly what has gone down at the club this year, yet I'm totally in the dark.

Just so I can feel like I'm at least partially in the loop, can someone please give me a blow by blow commentary of what led to SOS' contract not being renewed. I want times, dates, transcriptions of conversations, text messages, emails & any other relevant information that has brought us to where we are now.
