How it should be:

Premium seats: Level 1, 2 and 2A on the flanks
Mid level seats: Level 2, 2A behind the goals
Cheap seats: Level 1 behind the goals, level 4

And I was just thinking "inb4 why can't I sit on level 1 with the cheapest ticket?".

What seating is allocated to the 'home club'?

it depends upon the deal a club has negotiated with the MCG. Some clubs have much less access to reserved areas than others

So when you buy tickets, those 12 selections will come up ? Ie i want southern level 1 wing i get a ticket in that section ? Would ba agood start

I guess we will find out next wednesday

Currently, after best available, the options are to select the level, or select the stand, which is very ambiguous, or the category in cat a or finals

Interesting strategy.

The clubs will effectively 'price' supporters into season tickets (as they are far more affordable, particularly across the premium categories)

Supporters of clubs that have large swaths of reserve seating (Essendon at Ethiad, Collingwood / Hawthorn MCG) are mostly immune to the price flexibility (across home games) as the premium seats are already allocated to reserve ticket holders anyway

Where's the best place to sit for visitors? Heading over for Easter and never been there.
I went to the MCG for the first time (as a neutral) in 2012, sitting on Level 1 behind the goals in the Great Southern Stand. Don't sit there, as the action at the other end might as well be taking place in Timbuktu. Moreover, you don't get the sense of forward and back. The low roof of Level 1 is a bit claustrophobic, quite different to Adelaide Oval, and the Great Southern Stand's legroom isn't too flash. Hope my experience can be of help.
