Great read, has turned me onto lots of the lesser known bands, Gentle Giant,Van Der Graaf Generator,Mike Oldfield,Soft Machine,Hawkwind etc. And lots of new bands who are keeping the genre alive, Dream Theatre,Opeth,Spock;s Beard,Porcupine Tree and of course Radiohead,Mars Volta.

Is anyone else into some of the other prog bands other than the hugely known ones?

Gabriel-era Genesis,Van Der Graaf Generator,Gentle Giant are 3 bands particularly that I've been getting into. All the ones i mentioned in the above post, though. Spock's Beard and Porcupine Tree are 2 modern bands well worth checking out if you like prog.
