I'm not a really superstitious person, but Orazio needs all the help he can get. I would have refrained from #13.

#13 Previously worn (should I say not worn) by Wylie Buzza.
Rohan Smith had a great career in the no 13, apart from him can't think of any Port player in the SANFL or AFL to wear it with any distinction.

#13 was lucky for Geoff Bleythen played half a season and plays in the drought breaking 1977 premiership.

Thought that was Nat Fyfe for a tenth of a second

Russell Ebert alone makes #7 a great number, but you could make a case for #3 (Brett Montgomery, Gavin Wanganeen (1990), Bomber Clifford, Randall Gerlach, Andrew Obst, Trevor Obst, ) and #5 (Brendon Lade, Bruce Abernethy, Brian Leys, Tim Evans, Bob Kingston, Bob McLean) as having equally oustanding histories.

Even the #21 guernsey X-Man has given up has some storied history with Craig Bradley, Mark Williams, David Brown, Jeff Potter, Bull Reval and Brick Hoffman.

The numbers game thread gives an idea of some of the greats who have worn numbers with distinction on their Port guernseys.

I knew there was a thread getting about like this!

Please, it was worn with absolute distinction by the legendary Eddie Woloczek. Bobby "Emu" Philp preceded him, and Danny "Bug" Morton wore it in the 90s. The makings of a premiership team there.;)

There is more to the story of his choice of #13 ....

There’s a piece of jewellery particularly special to Orazio Fantasia. It’s a men’s chain that belonged to his paternal grandfather, his nonno, a man he never met, but whose name he bears. The senior Orazio, an Italian immigrant from a village near Naples, died before Fantasia was born, but the chain the man wore around his neck – with the number 13 attached to it – now belongs to his grandson, the Aussie Rules footballer.

When Fantasia plays footy, he likes to wear that same number on his back. Since 2016, he’s played with the No. 13 on his jumper as a speedy small forward at Essendon, after swapping from No. 46 for his debut 2014 and ’15 seasons.

WARNING!
Adelaide Advertiser haters look away now.

.

PS. This is a really great article on Orazio if you can get access to it
