Not sure how adventurous Bolton and the coaching group may be in providing players new roles or positions, but no doubt there will be challenges put upon players and some will have ultimatums put on them to nail down a position, in order to remain at the club, post '17.

Who do you see given a new role and why?

It should be like the old days and the new players are given roles like carry my boots, wash and vacuum my car or being sent down to the hardware store for a long wait or some chequered paint!

Weitering to tag the ruck

Gibbs to FF

Cripps to CHB

Ed as a defensive forward

Weitering can do anything.

Gibbs would make a good FF. Knows how to lead, strong overhead. Maybe more of a roaming HFF. Could kick 40+ goals as a permanent forward.

Cripps is as tall as a CHB

Ed could.... Ed is... Yeah Nah, I can't do this....

1. Kristian Jaksch.

I think the back-line is all but closed for Kristian, with the recruitment of Marchbank & Macreadie, so forward line it should be for the duration of the year.
Kristian is a good mark and a terrific kick and even if he does start in the VFL, he should be given every chance to make god in the one post and not just thrown from back to forward. It just seemed to confuse him last year.

Jesus Harks, as if there was not enough pressure on Jaksch this year, you want him to make god??

Gibbs to FF..?
In the immortal words of Nul Fun,
"Now we're Getting Somewhere"...
Or maybe I'm thinking of Nick Caves, "More News From Nowhere.."

Pretty thrilled actually.
Just got advice of two great things half an hour apart.
When it rains.........

Buckley on a wing.

Nothing new here but where else is there for Dylan to go?
Can't play midfield, doesn't defend particularly well and doesn't kick goals from the forward line.

Can anyone else seea new role for Dylan?

I can, at the end of this year either in the membership or social media departments....

Gibbs to a floating HBF/ CHB --> Wing
--> Centre
--> HFF

Smurph/Cripps/E Curnow/Kerridge clearance machines.

SPS/Polson to watch smurph closely

Kruezer NB

Phillips 1st Ruck / Levi Strauss 2nd ruck and floating around Wing / FP / CHF

C Curnow to do what he does best ..... a kouta impersonation.

Suggested a couple of years ago that Gibbs could play CHF in the *ahem* Hird type mould.

Apologies in advance for the comparison.

Role Changes:

Rowe - Key Fwd/Ruck
Lamb - Running defender
Pickett - Running defender
Plowman - Midfield
Murphy - Small forward
Graham - Full Time midfield
Jaksch - Defender

I can see a few new roles for 2017.

Cripps to CHF - Being his back injury it might be necessary to ease him into the season and give SPS and Murphy the midfield spot while he gets match fit.

Plowman to WING/MID - He's always has a interest in this. He could learn a thing or two off Cripps at his height. Last year being we needed him in defence when Jamison/weitering went through their injury period he didn't get the opportunity. 2017 is his chance.

Sumner to HBF/WING - seems like a logical spot for him to fillinthe absence of tuohy/Byrne and the addition of Marchbank. MB will allow a player like Sumner to take the small forward; he loves to tackle.

There was a terrible lack of consistency from our coaches last year with Jaksch, and not just week-to-week.

Quarter to quarter he'd be shifted up the ground, then back. Then up. Then back again. He wasn't left in one place long enough to get some confidence or, perhaps more importantly, make a claim as a key back or forward.

I am fully aware he lacks intensity, but we've invested a high pick in getting him to the club and as things stand we've done little to ensure we get value for the investment OR know in no uncertain terms he's simply not good enough.

Jaksch has enough ability to make it as a league footballer, but our coaching and development have done precious little to coax it out of him; and yes, I get it, be the master of your own destiny blah, blah...
